Our next stop from Paris is the United Kingdom. Recently, Pleasure Beach, Blackpool has become a little more current with the times. This park located in the United Kingdom recently added a Nickelodeon themed land. The rides here are based off of Avatar, Dora the Explorer, Spongebob Squarepants, the Backyardigans, Wonder Pets, and the Fairly Odd Parents. Here is your mission; you have to create a coaster that is based off of a different Nickelodeon character. The ride may be based off of a current or past Nickelodeon character. You must include the name of the coaster, give details, and a ride description.

Please make sure noone posts their full idea until the person is fired on Tuesday. The challenge ideas are due Saturday, July 2nd at midnight PST.

Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness: Training Academy

"Legend tells of a legendary warrior whose Kung Fu skills were the stuff of legend. He traveled the land in search of worthy foes. He was so deadly in fact that his enemies would go blind from overexposure to pure awesomeness."

Photobucket

But before the fame, money, and the hordes of female pandas, you are going to need to get trained.

With the opening of this ride timed to coincide with this year's premier of the new Kung Fu Panda Nickelodeon cartoon series, Kung Fu Panda: Training Academy is a high-speed, inversion filled roller coaster ride designed to give you the experience of the many tests of the Jade Palace's Training Hall.

Photobucket

The ride building is themed to a scaled down version of the Jade Palace, big enough to cover the queue line, the loading and unloading platforms and a few of the indoor set pieces. The queue line that runs through the palace sets up the story of how Po was chosen to be the Dragon Warrior and also runs past displays of the many relics mentioned in both the movies and the television program, including: Master Flying Rhino's Armor, the Sword of Heroes, the Invisible Trident of Destiny, the Legendary Urn of Whispering Warriors, and the Dragon Scroll, among many other displays.

Entering the loading area, you get to see the coaster train for the first time. The train is only three cars long with a 2 by 2 configuration, very similar to the Maverick coaster at Cedar Point and the Backlot Stunt Coaster.

Photobucket

Exiting the loading platform, the coaster turns a slow corner and catches Po in process of attempting to intimidate the sparring dummy. The coaster straightens out on its tracks and then stops.

Photobucket

PO: "Alright. Whatcha got? You got nothing cause I got it right here. You picking on my friends? Get ready to feel the thunder. I'm comin' at him with the crazy feet. Whatcha gonna do about my crazy feet? I'm a blur. I'm a blur. You never seen bear style, you only seen praying Mantis! OR... I could come at you Monkey style. OR... I'm comin' at ya snikity-snake."

From Jeff Elliott
Posted June 29, 2011 at 12:37 PM
Po hits the training dummy and it immediately rebounds back on him smacking him solidly right before the roller coaster launches to 50MPH. The coaster dodges several large spiky balls hanging from the ceiling before dropping into several tight helixes inside of the Jade Turtle of Wisdom bowl.

From Jeff Elliott
Posted June 29, 2011 at 12:44 PM
After the helixes, the coaster performs a corkscrew to get out of the bowl which dumps right into the Gauntlet of Wooden Warriors exercise.

Photobucket

The coaster weaves back and forth barely missing the black stone clubs and vertical spikes of the wooden warriors. After passing this challenge, there is a launch boost that takes the coaster speed up to 55MPH and then immediately into a half loop followed by a half heartline roll as you enter the Seven Talon Rings exercise.

Photobucket

The roller coaster banks, rolls, twists, and loops to get through the seven rings before diving back to the ground for the next test: The Seven Swinging Clubs of Instant Oblivion.

Photobucket

The coaster swerves madly to get away from the spiked rotating arms of the mechanism, just barely missing them. This takes us to the final challenge: the Field of Fiery Death.

Photobucket

With the speed of the coaster winding down, the best we can do here is dodge around the gouts of fire, once again barely missing them. Once free of the flames, the coaster then hits the break run.

While waiting for your turn to go into the unloading platform, there is a set piece showing Po dropping from the ceiling onto his face, after picking himself up, he says confidently, "It gets easier with practice," and then limps off bravely not realizing there is a large spiked arm stuck to his butt.

Danny Phantom: Enter The Ghost Zone

The Fentons have moved in to Blackpool Pleasure Beach! Enter The Ghost Zone is a completely indoor, interactive flying coaster.

As you approach Fenton Works, the headquarters of Jack and Maddie Fenton, you can already tell that this family is not ordinary. The lower half of the building looks average; it's two stories tall and made of brown bricks with a sign that says "Fenton" above the door.

However, the top half is the eccentric half. An almost UFO-like metal dome sits above the normal half of the building. Dozens of satellite dishes are scattered on the dome. Occasionally, a green light would be noticeable through the windows in the dome or smoke would billow from the dome, showing that the Fenton parents are doing an experiment.

Photobucket

When you enter the odd house, you enter the Fenton living room, where the pre-show is held. Once the correct amounts of guests have entered, a hologram Danny Fenton (like the Forbidden Journey holograms in the queue) appears and speaks to you.

Photobucket

"Oh hi guys! It seems you've stumbled across 'Fenton Works', the headquarters of my wacky parents and their inventions. Trust me; you don't want to encounter them. It's safest that you just leave while you can."

The hologram Danny seems to start walking away, but he turns back and starts talking again.

"Actually, I could use some help. You see..."

He looks around, making sure nobody else is listening, and then continues.

"...I'm half human, half ghost. A Halfa, as they call it. Down in the basement is a Ghost Portal that takes you to the Ghost Zone."

"I need help because the Ghost Zone is on the verge of being destroyed. I know, that sounds like it's a good thing. Surprisingly, it's not. Let me explain."

"The Ghost Zone and Earth share a symbiotic bond. What that means is, if the Ghost Zone is destroyed, Earth will be destroyed as well."

"That's why I need your help. You see, Vlad Plasmius, my arch nemesis, is teaming up with all of the other villains I've faced to destroy Earth. They are willing to sacrifice themselves to destroy us!"

Photobucket

"So, I want you guys to meet me in the basement. My parents are busy upstairs, so they shouldn't interrupt. I'll explain from there."

Suddenly, you hear Jack Fenton, Danny's dad, yell, "Danny, are those visitors I hear?"

In reply, Danny says "No, of course not!" He then tells you to go down there as quietly as possible. He then exits.

Guests continue down a flight of stairs, where you come to the Ghost Portal, where there is another small pre-show with Danny.

Photobucket

"Well, it seems you all made it without getting caught by my parents. Now, since mortals can't go into the Ghost Zone, we're going to turn you into ghosts. Just step into the Ghost Portal, and stay in there until I say you can continue."

Guests walk through the Ghost Portal and stand there. A bright green light turns on and stays on for a few seconds.

"Good, everything went well. Now continue through here and we can begin!"

A door opens in front of the guests, and they are now in the Ghost Zone. Everything is green and made of ectoplasm. This is where guests board their vehicles, which were designed by the parents for trips into the Ghost Zone (although they were never used...).

The vehicle has 4 rows of 4 seats. The vehicles start out facing backwards. You sit in the seat and apply your chest harness and lap bar. Connected to the chest harness is a "Ghost Blaster" that is used throughout the ride to score points.

You are then lowered down, so you are now on your back, facing the ceiling. The ride then begins pulling up a hill.

Photobucket

On the ceiling is a large screen that runs along with the track. Danny, now in ghost form, appears on the screen and talks to you.

"All right guys; let's go kick some ghost butt! Goin' ghost!"

He then flies away, and the track twists, making you seem like you're flying (your chest is now facing the ground).

You are then launched at 50 miles per hour, where you pass by many ectoplasm elements of the Ghost Zone (all real sets). You go down a small drop, and the first targets (modeled after ghosts) pop up. You can shoot them while you ride (it's completely optional, but you score points if you do).

Photobucket

You make a sharp turn left and you are at Skulker's Island. There are more targets and Skulker (portrayed on a screen) begins to speak.

"You animals! You won't succeed, I will kill you all!"

Photobucket

You go down a medium sized drop, and you are in a warehouse. Your car slows down as The Box Ghost appears and screams his catchphrase,

"I am the Box Ghost! Beware!"

Photobucket

The targets in this section are slow moving and easy to hit.

You speed up a little and go down a helix and come to a room filled with software and computers. This is obviously the home of Technus, who is on a screen rather than being an Animatronic.

"I am Technus, Manipulator of machines, Lord of all gadgetry, Wizard of integrated circuitry! You will not succeed in saving your puny Earth!"

Photobucket

You suddenly get a huge burst of speed as you shoot through a long hallway with circuits making sparks. In this hallway, the car does an inline twist.

As you are speeding up (you reach 60 miles per hour), you are launched into a small vertical loop just big enough to fit inside the building.

After the loop, you come to the final room. In this room, and on screens, are the villains from the Danny Phantom universe, led by Vlad Plasmius. Guests can shoot the villains on the screens if they want to. The car stays in the room just long enough for you to see Danny defeating the villains and saving the Earth.

After exiting the room, you come across the break run. The track twists again, so now you are facing the ceiling, where there is another screen (like at the beginning). Danny appears on the screen and talks to you as you slowly approach the loading zone.

"That was amazing! I couldn't have done it without you guys and your Ghost Blasters! Heh, who knew one of my parents' inventions would come in handy? Anyways, just make sure you don't tell anyone about your new..."talents". See you around!" At this section is where your score would be shown.

He flies off, and you exit through a "portal" and you arrive back in the Fenton basement. You are raised back into seated position exit. You exit the "basement" and enter the gift shop, "Ghostly Gifts".

Based on the Nickelodeon show of the same name, which is based on the Belgian/Dutch television series Het Huis Anubis.

Type of attraction: indoor steel roller coaster

Note: "Anubis: The Ride" opened at the Belgian amusement park Plopsaland in De Panne, Belgium in April, 2000. It is an outdoor steel coaster with several inversions but no theming other than in the entrance building. "The House of Anubis" coaster at Pleasure Beach Blackpool is a unique attraction from its Belgian cousin.

The House of Anubis is an internationally popular live-action television series shown on Nickelodeon in Britain and America. It revolves around eight teenagers and their attempts to solve the mysteries that fill Anubis House, their home at an elite British boarding school. The students discover clues and solve puzzles that reveal the secrets that fill Anubis House while trying to prevent the hidden powers of the house from being turned to evil by some unscrupulous fellow students.

The House of Anubis is entered through the front door of a replica of Anubis House, a rather typical two-story brick home that is the center of the mysteries at the heart of the television series.

Photobucket

The queue area leads through the common rooms of the house, (living, dining, study) and also through several "secret" passages and hidden rooms.

Photobucket

These rooms and passages will be labeled with signage to explain to visitors not familiar with the series the significance of the rooms and of some of the Egyptian artifacts seen in display cases throughout the queue. The queue ends in the kitchen.

The ride vehicles will have a stylized ancient Egyptian appearance, sleek and streamlined and coloured a burnished golden-bronze.

Photobucket

A hood-ornament shaped like the Eye of Horus decorates the front of each vehicle. Each vehicle carries up to six riders, three rows of two, with stadium seating fanned out in a "V" to provide excellent viewing by all riders.

Photobucket

The vehicles carry the riders into a hallway out of sight of waiting riders. It approaches a dead end wall. The lights in the hallway dim, the hood ornament begins to glow, a similar glow appears on the wall in front of the vehicle, and the wall swings open. The vehicle enters the blackness beyond the door, the door swings shut behind them, and the riders begin a wild careening journey through the basement, the attic, and the mysteries of The House of Anubis.

This is not an attraction geared for very young children, but for "tweens," teens and on up. There are no inversions, but many sudden banked turns, backward accelerations and near-vertical drops and climbs, all done in near complete darkness. There is not a true "story" but a series of scenes that true fans of the series will recognize and that riders not familiar with the story will still find exciting, thrilling and possibly terrifying. The moment the vehicle moves forward and into the blackness beyond the hidden door the vehicle plunges downwards into the "basement" of Anubis House, where it races past glowing hieroglyphics and suddenly-appearing and disappearing statues of strange, fearsome-looking Egyptian gods. The vehicle turns a corner and the riders find themselves slowing down and approaching a (forced-perspective) hallway lined with towering and terrifying statues of Anubis.

Photobucket

From James Koehl
Posted July 2, 2011 at 3:57 AM
The Eye of Horus hood ornament starts to glow again, the eyes of the statues start to glow, and the ride vehicle is suddenly launched between the statues and up a nearly-vertical hill and into the "attic" of Anubis House.

Photobucket

The ride vehicle reaches the top of the hill and slows down, moves down a dark, eerie hall and approaches another dead end wall. The Eye of Horus hood ornament once again glows, and suddenly a huge Eye of Horus glows brilliantly from the wall directly in front of the vehicle, sending it racing backwards away from the glowing symbol and down a hill with the riders still facing backwards!

Photobucket

The track levels off, and while passing more mysteriously-glowing Egyptian symbols and hieroglyphs the vehicle rotates and returns the riders to facing forward. The vehicle passes through an Egyptian gateway, glowing and flickering as if it is burning from the inside, and enters a huge, round, dimly-lit chamber with walls of stone and no visible ceiling or floor. The track spirals around and down into the chamber, gathering speed but doing so slowly enough that the riders can see the amazing objects floating, turning and glowing in the center of the chamber. Here are the clues that will allow the Cup of Ankh to be reassembled and the mysteries of the House of Anubis to be solved:

The Puzzle box
Photobucket

Photobucket

The Painting of a young girl with hieroglyphics on the back
Photobucket

A Phonograph Cylinder
Photobucket

A Tethering Ring with flames above it
Photobucket

A Leather Arabic Dictionary
Photobucket

Pieces of the Ankh
Photobucket

Photobucket

The Demisphere
Photobucket

The ride vehicle gains speed as it spirals to the bottom of the chamber, then levels out, leaves the chamber and decelerates as it passes through a pitch-black hallway, then slowly enters another stone chamber. There, ahead of the vehicle and its riders, floating in the middle of the room, is The Cup of Ankh, glowing and sparkling with power.

Photobucket

As the vehicle approaches it, the Cup rises up and out of site into the darkness overhead. The vehicle proceeds through the chamber and out a door in the far side. It slowly turns and follows the curved hallway which leads to the right and out of sight of the chamber. The hallway gets darker and darker until it is pitch black. Ahead of the vehicle a round object begins to glow- the Twelfth Clue- which simply says "END",

Photobucket

and this is the end of the....the ride vehicle unexpectedly plunges downwards into a deep pit, through a pitch black tunnel, then finally emerges into the garage of Anubis House. Riders leave the ride vehicle and pass through a glass greenhouse, which serves as a gift shop where they can purchase unique souvenirs of the ride and of the television series, along with pictures of their adventures in The House of Anubis.

REN AND STIMPY in THE GREAT GROSS OUT
Going way back to the beginning of the Nickelodeon network, the sick, twisted and funny world of Ren and Stimpy makes its debut at Pleasure Beach Blackpool.
Guests will see a film studio soundstage with signs announcing FILMING TODAY: THE GREAT GROSS OUT! Upon entering the soundstage, we see on video monitors above our heads a pre show video introducing us to the host of Suburban Essex’s favorite game show, THE GREAT GROSS OUT and our host Yul Rottenhale (say it fast). Yul is a smarmy, greasy, slick spoof of 70s game show hosts and he’s introducing today’s contestants: Ren Hoek and Stimpson “Stimpy” J Cat. This game show, as the video explains, challenges its players to be the grossest, most disgusting, biggest waste of carbon-based life form on the planet. There’s one small problem though. Turns out the cameraman is out sick due to last week’s taping (something about the plague or something or other) but don’t worry he’ll be better real, real soon. So we are chosen to be this week’s camera crew and are inducted into the Union with this oath:
“I solemnly swear to put the absolute minimum effort into my job,
To take a ridiculous amount of breaks,
To go home early and come in late,
And to stand around aimlessly , because ITS NOT MY JOB.”
So we then board our ride vehicle, a spinning steel wild mouse coaster car, sitting 3 across with a camera mounted to the front (non operational). The concept is, we are on a rolling camera dolly following the action of our contestants Ren and Stimpy. At times the coaster will go forward and at other times will spin with gravity.
Our ride vehicle leaves the station and we head up a lift hill as we see Ren and Stimpy on stage with the host Yul Rottenhale as the first challenge begins: Ren’s belching. As we crest the top of the lift hill Ren lets a huge belch go and we get a good nose full of the smell which sends us spinning from the fumes through a curvy piece of track.
Yul announces that was impressive, got anything grosser Stimpy? Its then that a giant Stimpy face comes into view and he announces his bogey collection as we head into Stimpy’s nostril. It’s a twisty cavern of mucus filled stalactites and stalagmites. We take a few curves and a short drop as drops of mucus (water drops) drip down on us. We pass through Stimpy’s head and see his brain ( a peanut) and exit out his ear (earwax, gross!) as the host Yul pipes up again. He says great going, but now its time for a commercial break from our sponsor “LOG. ITS BIG, ITS HEAVY….ITS WOOD!” Our car then drop down and takes a tight turn through a room playing the LOG commercial with smiling kids and logs projected on the walls. We leave the projection wall Log room and into the next commercial “SOAP! IT GETS YOU CLEAN!” as a projected Stimpy loses the grip on his soap and it slides beneath Ren’s foot as he slips and slides on it and spins around, that is when our vehicle heads down a hill and then back up and round a corner, spinning the entire time 360 degrees.
Aaaaaand, we’re back from commercial break for the last contest : THE GAS OFF! Both Ren and Stimpy bend over and let the farts fly. Boy, howdy do we smell that gas! Yul is overtaken by the fumes and faints. It sets us once again down and up a hill and through tight turns, spinning the whole while. As the walls around us project images of lava lamps and psychedelic lights and colors while Jimi Hendrix’s PURPLE HAZE is piped in through the sound system. After a few moments of this we see an hallucination from the fumes of Ren and Stimpy wearing hippy outfits and flashing the peace sign.
We turn into the final set of turns and past Ren and Stimpy as they throw cold water on the host to wake him up. After all they need to know who won. A loudspeaker is heard as we head into the unloading area that announces that if being the grossest pair of imbeciles this network has ever seen makes you winners then….well, then heaven help us all!
Ride ends. You exit the vehicle.

Legends of the Hidden Temple: The Lost Gold of Montezuma

This coaster is based on the 90's game-show Legends of the Hidden Temple, and is aimed towards teens to 20's that probably remember the show.

BACKGROUND: Back when the Mayans ruled Central America, Olmec was the son of a shaman. The Mayans were having a bad drought and the shaman was in charge of figuring out how to fix the problem. A human sacrifice was deemed to be the appropriate solution, and Olmec was the chosen victim. His father couldn't bring himself to kill Olmec, instead he was shut in the temple for the rest of eternity. But before he sealed the tomb forever, Olmec's father shut Montezuma's gold in with his son in order to get payback for forcing them to sacrifice his son.

QUEUE: The ride building is a replica of the temple from the show. There is a large stone head outside, like Olmec's in the show. The queue winds its way through the major rooms of the temple (This could also be tied into a really sick playground nearby). There would have to be a Shrine of the Silver Monkey, a Dark Forest, and a Laser Light Room. The rooms would all be interactive, much like the line for Winnie the Pooh at Magic Kingdom. There is a video from Kirk Fogg playing above the queue:
"Welcome excavators to the Hidden Temple! This temple was just recently discovered by my team of archaeologists. We'd been looking here for over a year and we were just about to pack up and go home. But we managed to find this miraculous place the day before our flight was supposed to leave. We've been exploring here and we made two discoveries. First, we found this giant talking rock. Apparently he's the spirit of a human sacrifice that was shut inside this temple. He goes by the name of Olmec. He's informed us that Montezuma's gold is hidden somewhere in this temple. He also told us that there are temple guards guarding the gold. There's only one wing of the temple that we haven't explored yet, so the gold must be there. It's your job to go in there and get the gold. I would do it myself, but I uh... can't. Anyways, good luck." After this, the queue continues over the "Moat" and down the "Steps of Knowledge."

VEHICLE: The ride vehicle will be a six person cart. There will be 6 different carts, each with a different color and name: Blue Barracuda, Silver Snake, Green Monkey, Purple Parrot, Orange Iguana, and Red Jaguar. The carts will have 3 rows of 2 people and it will look it was hollowed out of a log, much like a really old canoe.

RIDE: The ride combines the rooms that everyone walked through in the ride. The ride begins by climbing up the steps into the temple, a.k.a. the chain lift. Many of the rooms will just be scenes that the cart flies through. Those rooms will be on the outside of a banked curve or at the top of a small drop. I will list all of the rooms in order, but only detail the rooms that are more significant than the others.
The Crypt: the room at the top of the chain lift
The Pit: a big drop
The Observatory
Medusa's Lair: the ride comes to grinding halt and then a temple guard comes shooting forward at the side of the cart
The Shrine of the Silver Monkey: the ride rockets straight up and then does a helix around the lift
The King's Storeroom
The Room of the Secret Password: you can hear the password as you go through this room
The Mine Shaft
The Dark Forest
The Jester's Court
The Laser Light Room: this room has the cart doing a bunch of very sharp turns, then the lights change and the cart drops
The Ledges
Olmec's voice: "You've got the gold. NOW GET OUT OF THERE!!!"
This part of the ride is just a straight drag strip launch, with small versions of the rooms on either side, before the ride stops back at the exit.

This high-energy roller coaster is one that nearly the whole family can and will enjoy! The low 48” height limit allows for more fun for everyone. The whole ride occurs indoors.

The main characters are shown below in order: Owen, Amanda, Mike, and Grandpa/Hologramps (he is a hologram at all times).

Photobucket

QUEUE: The front of the ride is the main character’s (Mike Fukunaga) home. You enter and walk through the living room, kitchen, and finally into Mike’s bedroom. If you’ve never seen the show, Mike’s bed is actually a secret entrance to an underground dojo. The bed sits open and you descend the steps into the dojo.

Photobucket

As you can see above the dojo blends traditional ninja tools and techniques with modern high-tech technology. Here is where the pre-show occurs. Hologramps explains that Nightmare (a villain of my own creation) is using his terrifying monster to terrorize the city. He explains that you are going to fly along side of the ninjas in a state-of-the-art vehicle known as the Ninja Flyer 3000. He tells you that he’ll give further instructions in the next room. Loading now occurs.

Photobucket

RIDE VEHICLE: The coaster car looks like the one shown above. It is a Zamperla Volare. The vehicle swings out on turns and gives you the sensation of flying but is more compact than a B&M flying coaster. The track is hidden in the ceiling and the vehicles are all black to match the ninja feel. Once loaded, vehicle moves into another section of the dojo.

RIDE: After moving into the next room, Hologramps shows you on a map of the city where you will be able to find the other ninjas who have sent out a distress call after having been trapped by the Nightmare and his monster. “Oh and don’t forget your rocket boosters!” he says. All of the sudden, it feels as though weight has been added to your vehicle. The robot Yamato (AA) walks over and waves goodbye (he presumably put the rockets on).

The vehicle moves into a darker room, the doors shut behind you and a flash of light shoots down a long hallway, briefly illuminating your launch path. Boom! Your vehicle launches down the tunnel at about 45 mph. The vehicle goes into an upwards helix as you sway to the outside. The launch has placed you in the middle of Empire City. You are suddenly flying between walls disguised as skyscrapers. It appears as though you’re many stories above the cars and streets below. You make a hard right and dive through an upper floor window of an abandoned warehouse. Brakes slow you down and you are on a second floor catwalk and can see the following scene below:

From Adam Nodjomian
Posted July 2, 2011 at 11:37 PM
Nightmare (AA) has trapped the other three ninjas (AAs)! Nightmare is a tiny man but he is quite unassuming. Don’t be fooled! He uses this to his advantage. People pity him and fall into his trap. “Oh look, your friends have arrived! How nice of them to visit”, he says in a cheerful tone. “Don’t listen to him!” “He’s lying!” “Don’t be a fool, he’s tricking you!” the ninjas all yell. “SILENCE!” roars the Midget Man. The ninjas all stop talking.

“Fine! Since you obviously aren’t afraid of me, maybe you be more intimidated by my monster!” A roar emits from the shadows and the head and neck of a mechanical dragon emerge (AA). “Do you understand now? This was my creation. I was the little kid who always had the nightmares, the ones that kept me awake at night. I didn’t deserve that did I? I was a good kid!” ”Well now you’re just a lunatic!” says Owen. “I SAID SILENCE! As I was saying, I created this monster to make sure that everyone was as terrified as I was. Come my sweet let’s show them how frightening you really are.” Huge wings appear and fire emits from its mouth.

“Run!” shouts Amanda. “We’ll take care of Nightmare, you guys take care of the dragon!” they break through their bonds and begin to fight the small man. He puts up a good fight, but the ninjas seem to be gaining the upper hand.

From Adam Nodjomian
Posted July 2, 2011 at 11:40 PM
At this point your vehicle lurches forward and through a window. You drop down to street level and are zooming between cars when you suddenly hear the dragon’s roar behind you! You take a quick turn down a narrow alleyway before shooting up and over the rooftops.

From Adam Nodjomian
Posted July 2, 2011 at 11:53 PM
You seem to slow down and then the head of the dragon (AA) breaks through the roof of the building right in front of you! You make a hard U-Turn before dropping down into and braking in another alleyway. The ninjas await you.

"We got Nightmare!" cheers Mike. "And the dragon should be easy, somewhat" says Amanda "It's mechanical! If it hits water it will be destryed! Go to the river!"

The dragon roars right behind you and you accelerate (launch) out of the alleyway. You go up and over the buildings and are making a bee-line for the river only a few blocks away. The whole time though, the beating of the dragon’s wings is getting closer and closer. It roars once more before you make a final dive towards the water. The vehicle hurtles toward the inky-black water below! You pull up just in time, but the dragon wasn’t so lucky a big flash and splash signify that you have defeated the monster. The flash also hides the on-ride photo.

You exit at the polic station where you can see the cells of inmates from past shows (and decor and props to match). Before disembarking, the nijas thank you for your help. The police chief (who is, ironically, Mike's dad) also thanks you, but when he asks you who helped you, you notice the ninjas have disappeared, off to fight more crime.

You exit into a gift shop called Supah Gifts and More.

Well we have to say goodbye to Colin this week, since he hasn't posted. We will be having a double elimination this week, as we needed it for the challenge schedule. Review will be up later. Let me just say that I absolutely LOVE how some of you went retro for this week's challenge!

So Tim, does double elimination mean Colin and one other competitor or 2 of those that posted?
Just curious....

Sorry for the delay of the weekly review guys. I was called into work.

Dominick- I like the concept with combining a bunch of different characters on a ride and have then intermingling. I'm not sure I exactly understand how this could be a coaster due to the lack of coaster terms and the wide amount of scenes you included.

Jeff- The coaster sounded intense and absolutely perfect for the Nickelodeon land. I loved the idea of the coaster riders going through an "obstacle course". Great work and one of my favorites.

Andy- I think you really had great storytelling in your coaster this week. The ride has a backstory that leads into the coaster. I feel this is always essential for a great coaster. I also enjoyed the concept of you being the ghost hunter, and being able to target ghosts. My favorite this week.

James- I have to admit I've never seen this show, so I'm a little fuzzy about what it's about. I think you definately included some cool moments in your ride, and it would definately appeal to the fanbase.

Joseph- I think your concept was well improved over last week's. I thought the game show story and ride was very clever and well thought out. Would definately appeal to many young boys. I know I loved it. One of my favorites.

Dan- Double Dare, one of my all time favorite shows growing up! I really liked the concept, and thought you would bring Double Dare back to life in coaster form. I thought it could use a bit more detail, but good work. Love the last pic!

Eric- Ah another one of my favorites from the past, Legends of the Hidden Temple. Good quality ride and clever ideas were used in your proposal. Great Work. One of my favorites.

Adam- The coaster definately sounded like a blast! It sounded thrilling and advemtuorous. I think the inclusion of AA's might have been a little overused for a coaster. But good job, nevertheless

Tim, I hadn't heard of it either, so that is why I included a short synopsis of the general plot in the proposal. Both of my kids had heard of it, and liked the show a lot. It takes place in Great Britain, the location of the park, and had already been the inspiration for another ride at another park. It probably wouldn't do as well in America as at Blackpool, but I think it would be a popular addition to this park. I understand why you didn't know the details of the series, which is why I didn't make it important to know the story to enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the constructive criticism Tim,it is always appreciated! In my defense I didn't want a Six Flags parking lot coaster so I thought AAs and special effects could save me from that classification. I was a bit rushed on this one so I don't think it was my best work ever (work was a bear this week), but at the same time I'm proud of what I was able to accomplish given my constraints.

Wait where does it say July 5th? The next one doesn't end until July 9th.

I'd like to wish everyone a Happy and Safe 4th of July. God Bless America. Even though technically our competition will be headed to Australia :P. And to make a note that the poll will most likely not close tomorrow due to the late posting of it today. It will be left open until Tuesday around 8:30 am EST I believe.
