Which night time parade is best?

Walt Disney World: The cast members are at war-which parade's saide are you on?

So I'm sure this has been posted before, but I've never seen it. There is a great rift, a divide, a line in the dirt with WDW cast members. You love one and hate the other.

Which is better, Spectromagic or Main St. Electric Parade?

I saw both as a kid/teen so they both have sentimental value to me. However, I really don't care one way or the other.

I'd be happier with a brand new nighttime parade with updated technology and effects instead of cycling through the old ones every few years.

Spectro, hands down

While I enjoy both very much, SpectroMagic is by far more superior. However, the music from Main Street Electrical has always been very memorable and special. However, Fantillusion and Dream Lights look even beter compared to the two American parades!

Feel lucky to have seen both, but a lot of my favourite memories are of Spectromagic so that gets my vote. The song! I sing it to myself to cheer myself up...and annoy anyone around me!
Shimmering, glimmering, carouselling.....*cymbals!!!*
OK.....I'll stop.....

But have to agree Boo To You is pretty special!

To play devils advocate, MSEP has higher viewership than Spectro.

Spectro for me

We happened to be at the Magic Kingdom on the re-opening day they brought back the Main Street Electrical Parade in 2001. I guess it was the first time in two or three years they had actually used the attraction.

Needless to say, the park was insane that day and people were camping their spots at 5PM. 5PM!!!! The park started to get really full at dusk. Apparently, a lot of the locals with season passes wanted to see it as well.

I ended up putting my then 4 year old daughter on my shoulders so she could see it and recorded it with my Sony 8MM analog tape camcorder, holding it above my head over the crowd for something like 40 minutes. We go back and watch it every now and then. My daughter remembers it vividly and it was really cool to be a part of since it had gone rogue a few years earlier.

I was bit sore after the parade... my shoulders were in searing pain and my arm was about to fall off... then there was the rush for the monorail. Ugh.

While one parade cannot grammatically be far more superior, I think that Main Street Electrical parade is much better than Spectro.

Now, I love both, do not get me wrong, however, MSEP is just in every way a better parade. The music is fantastic, it is the perfect length, has a long and memorable ending, has a memorable opening, and lots of things to interact with.

Spectro has many of these same things, and it may just be sentimental value that pushes MSEP ahead for me, but in my book there is no contest!

Good points. I think MSEP floats make more sense and flow better. The music is better and the general float designs are a little better.

The things that I don't like about spectro is the slow beat music...good music but not for a Disney parade. The floats are random, and not as varied. Each good fairy from Sleeping Beauty has their own, dull float, but Aurora isn't in the parade...explain that. The end of Spectro seems to squish all of the more characters together as an after thought.

Spectromagic!

However, both are very similar. MSEP has great nostalogic factor!

The music from the electrical parade is the stuff legends are made of. That and the weird sounds some of the smaller floats make it the best sounding, and looking, parade on the block.
