Manny, typically an engineering/architecture/visual arts degree will help, but you've a long way to go before that. There is also a Disney Imaginearing competition thing where possible Imaginears compete in designing attractions with a team. It's called ImagiNations. Look it up! TH, could you also send that program link to me?

I've done and am participating in ImagiNations, which is very important. Also, the College Program is a must for any career with Disney anymore. And I am too curious about TH's link.

We are tweaking an e-Learning program that introduces students to the basic language and processes of commercial construction. The demonstration version of the program will be complete later this week. Whether you are building or designing a theme park attraction, an office building or a grocery store, the LANGUAGE and the fundamental PROCESSES of commercial construction are the largely same.

We should have the demonstration version of the program available by week's end.

Stay tuned!

Hey TH, you can start charging people(except for me of course) for helping them with their career goals! ;) But, learning that language would be really cool and helpful for many people.

@Tasia - In a couple of weeks I am attending the Megacon Comic book convention in Orlando. There are a handful of action figure manufacturers that will have booths. The people that design licensed toys and such). I will get a couple of business cards and send you some links. I would also look up licensed toy manufacturers. On line.

Okay gang, here it is! The link below will take you to the demonstration version of our new e-learning program 'BUILDING THE BUILDING.'

I LOOK FORWARD TO READING YOUR COMMENTS AND OPINIONS.

(Note: You must have FLASH to run the program ... and turn up the sound).

As some of you already know, I work in commercial construction project management. Based in Central Florida, I have been on construction teams that have built hotel resorts, restaurants, government facilities and a handful of theme park projects (attractions).

There have been occasions on the TPI site where some of our younger posters (Hello Manny) have expressed an interest in investigating a career in attraction development. Certainly an ambitious goal.

Whether a project manager is overseeing the development of a theme park attraction, shopping mall, hotel or convenience store, there are certain fundamental elements that are common on virtually EVERY project.

Our 'BUILDING THE BUILDING' program introduces these fundamentals in two segments.

Part 1 - Learning the Language. Divided over four sections the program introduces the following:

* Project Team
* Project Drawings
* Project Set-Up
* Project Production

Part 2 - Construction Simulation Experience

Having learned the fundamentals of commercial construction students step into the role of a project manager -- supervising construction of a three-story office building.

The link will take you to the demonstration version of the 'BUILDING THE BUILDING' program. We have commenced work on the complete program -- which will provide its students with a broad understanding of commercial construction project management.

Further, once the student completes the first Construction Simulation Experience, they will be invited to try managing new, more challenging simulated construction projects ... including a theme park attraction (dark ride).

Again, this is a DEMONSTRATION VERSION of our 'BUILDING THE BUILDING' program. However, students (as in: you guys) who review the program will have greater insight on what it takes to complete a construction project in one of the planet's theme parks.

Manny,

Dominick is right. You will need a college degree. Since it will be more than 10 years before you are ready to work there, the salary will be different than it is now. But rest assured that you can make a nice living at WDI.

So I post the link, request feedback and ....

TH, I started it and got past the tour of the building(fountain, balcony gardens, restaurant, etc...) and couldn't quite find a way how to pause it without leaving the window open. So, I have to wait a while for a place in my calendar to take the time to do the whole thing. I couldn't tell if it was going to take 30 minutes or 2 hours to complete it. Can you tell me how long it should take? I don't think I was able to get to a real education part yet so I assume that's to come later, but so far it seems to either take a ton of set up time(maybe it's necessary) or I'm missing something.

From TH Creative
Posted February 8, 2012 at 3:14 AM
Because it is a demonstration program we have not created a "pause" or "back" function. But the "tour" (as it were) lasts about 20 or 30 minutes.
