Pictures have surfaced of the current state of the Jaws attraction at Universal Orlando. The pictures are available from Orlando Sky Radio at the link below. As a former Jaws skipper, I can definitely say that these are heartbreaking, I loved this attraction and hate to see it in this state!

Chris: Great job discovering those pictures. They're the best I've seen of the Jaws work to date.

More large posts from Dom. Even better how this one is not related to his actual post whatsoever.

Thanks Rob, I agree they provide a great overview versus the snaps through the fence that people have been posting haha

They should auction off the sharks! I want one!

It's very interesting to see how shallow the water was, and to see that there were holes for the sharks. Even more interesting is the final part where it had two sharks sitting next to each other (one that goes against the boat, and a second one that gets fried)

It was a nice ride (and a classic!) Why is Universal getting rid of the classic rides? Can you imagine Disney getting rid of Pirates or Haunted Mansion?

You're right, Daniel. Although Jaws was not on the same level as POTC or Haunted Mansion, it was a classic family ride. The big difference between them is that Jaws was getting dated due to the fading awareness of the public in the Jaws movies while POTC and Haunted Mansion are classics in and of themselves and don't rely upon a movie to promote their popularity.

Jaws probably would have stayed, but Universal is going "all-in" on Harry Potter to drive up attendance at both parks in Orlando, and needed the space. Hopefully we'll see a family-oriented Harry Potter attraction to replace it. If not, then I will be disappointed also because most of my family members won't ride the thrill rides that are becoming so prevalent in the Universal Orlando parks.

Back in the day when the fire was switched on and the smell of burnt fish used to waft over to the que at Back to the future, Jaws was the first ride we made for. It was great when it opened, it rocked in the middle and it was amazing at the end. I loved it, its part of my childhood memories. I dont care what replaces it, Ill miss the ride, same as i do BTTF and the Funtastic world of Hana Barbera. I understand the need to update and improve the parks but still, Jaws rocks. Fact.
