Bank-issued gift card acceptance?
Busch Gardens Williamsburg: I'm heading to Busch Gardens as a part of my band's spring trip to Williamsburg, and I was wondering if they accept these cards.
Last year, I visited Universal Orlando many times, once with my high school's band, and used a bank-issued gift card for expenses, even buying my friends Butterbeer! I'm going to Williamsburg, and I already know that the hotel we're staying at (Great Wolf Lodge) accepts bank-issued gift cards with either a MasterCard or Visa logo (which my local bank offers), but I'm wondering ig BGW will accept them. If so, do they ask for ID when I use it (Universal doesn't)?
They should check there website and then check your local bank too.
I know 2 years ago my debit card didnt work in Florida because my bank but a stop on all Floridian and Texas transactions because of fraud.
Dom, you're just mocking me, aren't you?
your bank can put a hold on for fraud. just let your bank know ahead of leaving to when you will be there. only problem i have ever had has been on bank side and easy to fix with a call or letting them know before i left.
That's about the best advice, simply let you bank know that way they won't flag and freeze your account. I rarely run into trouble with mine since we travel threw 3 states very often but anytime we're going outside of our typical pattern I tend to let them know.
I've never really had a problem with gift cards, most of them now tend to have the Visa/Mastercard logo's so their accepted nearly everyplace. The one thing I do know is it's nearly impossible to spend the full balance on one unless it's re-loadable or you know the exact amount left. That way you can say "Please only charge $XX to this and the rest in cash" so you can fully use all the money in the card.
That may also be something to keep in mind.
Hi,
Cardholders can use the card to purchase goods and services, make purchases online, pay bills, or get instant access to their funds 24 hours a day, seven days a week at more than 800,000 PLUS ATMs or anywhere MasterCard® cards are accepted. Also, companies can choose the program options that fit their needs – choose either a one–time load, similar to a gift card, or choose a reloadable card.

You should'nt have a problem with the bank issued gift card unless you rent a hotel room or a car because they place a hold on your account for a deposit. Typically a hotel will hold the price of one nights stay for a deposit and it can take up to a week for them to refund the money once you checkout.
