The Amazing Spider-Man Redo
Universal Orlando: Has anyone experienced the upgraded Spider-Man attraction? It's debut is March 8th.
March 8th was the scheduled date of the Amazing Spider-Man upgrade. It would be informative if anyone that has experienced it would give us a ride report. The previews looked fantastic.
I can't wait to ride it, but i won't be able to until next year probably.
yea but the old music really wasnt that good either. bad music really doesnt take anything away from the ride which looks incredible

I just saw a POV video of the new ride. Dom, are you talking about that bit of music played when they go past the Spidey Signal?
If so, you are nitpicking and seem to love whining about things just to hear yourself complain.
I have never seen someone so adverse to change when it comes to theme parks unless something is being replaced with Family Guy or Nintendo.

"In fact, why don't I do that to you? Hey, you hate Disney because you go in the summer and Fastpass is unfair, and MIB gives you the most fun, and blah blah blah!"

You are absolutely correct. I simply found an alternative that allows virtually no waiting in lines at a resort I enjoy more because it is geared for adults.
Couple that with the fact it doesn't matter what time of year we go (peak or off season) and still can get on the rides with no wait even if the parks are packed.
I have dozens of reasons why I don't like Disney anymore, but they are all based on previous stays and all of them are valid.
This is an interesting debate...
Tastes in music are very subjective. Heck, I don't even know what techno & dubstep are.
My opinion? Just play Weird Al's Spiderman song (Piano Man parody) through the whole ride and be done with it.
Incidentally, I'll be seeing the Weird one two months from tomorrow...for the 10th time. House Of Blues, Atlantic City..also the last place I saw him, in 2007.
Do they still have the original queue line videos?
Do they still have the video where your in this room and the supervillians talk about how there going to bring the city to it's knees?
Dom: Excellent report. The ride sounds like it's really great. My personal opinion previously was that Spider-Man was just a small shade behind Forbidden Journey. In your opinion, which do you believe is the better ride after the upgrade?
Dom: If Spiderman faces off against Harry Potter after the next round, my vote goes for Spider-Man. I was on the fence. Thanks for helping me clarify my opinion.
For all the past controversial discussions that spoke of the imminent demise of Marvel Island at Universal, this obviously considerable financial investment in the Spider-Man upgrade should put those thoughts to rest. Universal's Thierry Coup's interview with Inside the Magic last week, "Everything we have here is under a licensing agreement which allows us to continue using these wonderful characters and do what we do today and just make things better. We're completely behind these characters. They are so wonderful, with such great appeal to our guests, our audiences, so we're going to keep those characters for as long as we can".....I'm happy with this commitment. I've been closely following Marvel since they turned the comic industry upside down in the 60's. I grew up with these characters (I actually preferred the villains over the heroes in some of the mags)and its great news to me that Universal chooses to keep the franchise strong. May Stan Lee live long (he has) and prosper. And my thoughts are still with Kirby, Ditko and all the other Marvel greats who have passed on.

I am figuring out the last parts of our trip for June this morning, getting all hyped up about USF.... Thanks for the report Dom, sounds like they did a great job on the upgrade.

"(I actually preferred the villains over the heroes in some of the mags)"
I agree, the villains kind of seem a little smarter, and mysterius. I like that.
Plus villains, especially Marvel ones, tend to be more complex with their motivations. Magneto for instance is a hero or villain depending on the outlook of the person judging him...he's either a man fighting for his kind at all costs or an outright terrorist.
You're correct. The original attraction of Marvel in the 60's was the depth of character concerning both villains & heroes. At that time DC was cartoonish, so Marvel was a breath of fresh air. In later years DC copied the Marvel mythos.

All those Marvel characters were also based in real cities (New York as opposed to Metropolis) & they tended to have more flaws than their DC counterparts.

I rode the revamped Spiderman and it was 'Amazing'. Truly. The upgrade was awesome. It needs to be experienced to be believed, but all the PR releases about being able to see the 'muscles flex' and all the new details is true. I need to ride it again. I only saw Stan Lee once but I hear that he actually has 2 cameos in the new films.
This is not a new story-it's the same story. But everything is now totally in synch and very much enhanced. In fact I think that it's easier to follow the story now. That is something I had a problem with in the original version.
There are long lines for Spiderman again, but the Single Rider line seems to be open a lot now. Give it a try!
J. Snow, I've seen 2 of Stan Lee's cameos on the ride, and there's actually 3. I'm not telling you where they are ;)
