Universal Orlando: Plan for early in the month?

Hi there,

I plan to visit the Universal Studios and the Universal Islands in December. Unfortunately we only have 1,5 days for the trip. The full day is Friday the 5th of December and on Saturday the 6th of December at 3pm we have to leave. It is planned to book a hotel next to the park, so that we can enter the park on both Mornings on time at 9:00. Do you have any experience with visits there at the beginning of December, will it be totally crowded and is it mid/low-season (I do not expect any low season in Orlando by the way ;-). As I am from Germany I am not a native Speaker, so I hope I wrote clearly.

Thank you for your help in advance :-)

I've always found visiting early in Decemer ideal. The weather is cooler, all the parks are decorated for the holidays (Disney and Universal), yet the kids are not on school vacation yet, so the crowds are very manageable. I think you will have a great visit on the days you mentioneed. The crowds don't start getting out of control until the kids are out of school for Christmas break.

Early December is a great time to visit. Crowds are very manageable on weekdays. However, weekend crowds start building after Thanksgiving, so you might have some lines to deal with on Saturday. However, if you're staying at an on-site hotel (Royal Pacific, Hard Rock, or Portofino), you will have Universal Express, and won't have to wait in any attraction lines anyway.

Just to back up the other two answers - friends of mine visited in December and they said it was brilliant. Far less people and queing times. That can really make a difference when you are there for a short visit.
