Another Death at Disney World, this Time at Typhoon Lagoon

Walt Disney World: Another child has died at Disney World, but this does not seem to be as a result of a ride mishap or anything.

An investigation is underway after a Newport News, Va. girl collapsed and died at Walt Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon water park. Lifeguards at the wave pool noticed the 12-year-old girl laying on a ledge out of the water, when they asked if she was okay. She told them she wanted to be left alone, then she attempted to stand up, but passed out. Lifeguards performed CPR and she was rushed to Celebration Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The girl's family said she had no known medical problems.

Disney must be cursed or something this year. Look at this wev had 3 or 4 deaths and California Screamin Crashing Disney is having a serious problem.

This is making the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" seem like the "Deadliest Celebration on Earth" after all of these injuries, arrests, and fatalities.

Disney is cursed. Somewhat Walt Disney is probably haunting the Walt Disney Company.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it were just the heat. The weather in Orlando this year is brutal. Even if you've visited Central Florida in the past, that history does not prepare you for how bad this year is.

Heat, sun and lack of hydration stress the brain and cadiovascular system, making even healthy people at risk for failure. Throw in the stress of a theme park vacation, with the rides, the crowds and the logistics, and the danger increases.

I went in July and I didn't think it was abnormally hot for FL. Plus, this still wouldn't explain the crash at DCA.

See?!I told you all!Someone cursed Disney!And actually I know what happens there!That time my uncle and aunt were there and they said that a girl is passed out because when she was in the wave pool someone's feet "kick" her at her neck!O my gosh!

It's been abnormally hot the last couple of weeks in New Jersey, it might be hotter everywhere on the east coast, but I'm not sure.

OK,now I will review the accidents at Disney Theme Parks:

1)Tokyo Disneyland->Space Mountain

2)DCA->California Screamin'

3)MGM Studios->Tower of Terror

4)EPCOT->Mission: Space

5)Disneyland->Storybook Land

I think some accidents will happen in Animal Kingdom,DisneySea,Magic Kingdom,Disneyland Paris,Walt Disney Studios Park and of course Hong Kong Disneyland.I think the next accidents will be these:

1)Animal Kingdom->Kilimanjaro Safaris

2)DisneySea->Journey To The Center Of The Earth

3)Disneyland Paris->Big Thunder Mountain

4)Hong Kong Disneyland->Liki Tikis

5)Blizzard Beach->Summit Plummet

6)Walt Disney Studios->Armageddon

7)Magic Kingdon->Stitch

So,what do you think about my "vision".

Disney is cursed like how King Tut's Tomb was cursed, somehow I'm suspicious that the ghost of Walt Disney has something to do with this.

You forgot the Typhoon accident and the death after someone rode "DINOSAUR" at DAK. I don't think many of those rides have much chance of an accident occuring.

From Jason Lester
Posted August 6, 2005 at 11:04 PM
Well, some of the rides are possible, but I don't see how accidents could happen on others. The accident would have to have nothing to do with the ride. I mean, what could really happen on Stitch?

From Josh Revani

Seriously, Stitch is a family-fun show, how can it possibly little kids getting hurt?

From Adriel Tjokrosaputro

Do you wanna know what will happen at Stitch?Maybe the restraints are just push all of the peoples very very hard.And then they all died!

From Cameron Rust

OK,then I will change Stitch into Splash Mountain.How is it?Splash Mountain is actually uses rail and when it goes to the final drop the boat derailed from the rail and goes down vertical!8 peoples die.

You enjoy coming up with these scenarios of doom don't you?

Maybe you should go get a job for Disney and help them to think out possible accidents. We know they need all the help they can get.

From Anthony Murphy

Though this discussion has gone way out of control, I will say somebody did die on Splash Mountain (they jumped out). I think it is just bad luck for Disney and that is it. It does not appear that any of these recient accidents have been their fault except on California Screamin, but that was not that that bad. Nobody died!

From Jason Lester

I remember the SM thing to. They stood up near the drop and then jumped when it began the descent.

Actually I don't like it at all.I recommended that Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom have some restraints like they do at the Tokyo Version.The Splash Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland is much more fun and much wetter.And much safer because they have their own different type Splash Mountain.How could Walt Disney World beaten by Tokyo Disneyland?

i heard she died in the wave pool i been in that you have to know what your doing those waves drag you about 10-20 feet she was probabbly so close she got smashed and collapsed

From Jason Lester
Posted August 13, 2005 at 7:09 PM
She got out of the water first. I'm not sure if you can be crashed in those things. Maybe if you flip underwater and hit the ground, but then you'd most likely be knocked unconcious. The front of the pool sloped up so you can't hit a ledge or something like that.

Remember, she was found lying outside the wave pool, and spoke before collapsing. This could have nothing to do with the pool.

I live in Orlando & visit typhoon lagoon alot.
I would imagine that she died from heat exhaustion there!
Swimming with the waves can be very tiring, the heat wears you out but you don't feel as tired or dehydrated because you are in water.
Unfortunate but not really Disneys fault.

I was at Disney World last year and a couple of my friends and I went to Blizzard Beach. We were going up to ride Mt. Splashmore and there was a man at the top with his head in the water. He must have had a heart attack or something but the woman up there was too weak to pull him out and her accent was so strong that the people she had called for help didn't understand her. I went to get help and my friends tried to pull him out of the water. Anyway, we never found out whether the guy lived or died and it seems to be bothering one of the friends who was with me so does anyone know whether he lived or died? It woulda been about March-April of last year.

From Anthony Murphy
Posted April 8, 2006 at 7:36 AM
Strange! I would guess that the guy lived since there was no news coverage about a death at Blizzard Beach. A death at Disney World makse good news!

From Chris Walton

Well Anthony, I don't know if I would call it good news. It's kinda' grim.

From Anthony Murphy
Posted April 8, 2006 at 11:42 AM
Sorry, I mean "good" like that in a sarcastic way. A death at a theme park always makes the news is my point. Its the whole thing about if it bleeds than it leads! Bad news (like that) tends to be on the news pretty quickly especially if it is Disney who boasts a good reputation.

So yeah, I am sorry if anybody misunderstood me. It is terrible news, but News programs "love" to find that kind of atrocity and go with it!

**NEW DEATH AT DISNEY WORLD**

Women dies at Disney Wednesday day after becoming ill following her ride on mission space on Tuesday.

The ride is currently closed for inspections.

This is the second death in 12 months related to Mission Space..

Are rides getting more dangerous as thrill seekers seek faster, scarier, more adrenalin inducing rides?

From Chris Walton
Posted April 12, 2006 at 7:27 PM
This worries me not about the intensity of the ride, but the thought that Disney may try to tone down the intensity and take away from the ride experience.

Ride re-opened today (Thursday).
Engineers performed a walk through over night and found ride to be fully operational.
A worker from the state Bureau of Fair Rides Inspection monitored the testing and the ride didn't appear "to be acting abnormal in any way,"

so there's no available info as far as anyone's seen regarding the still on summit plummet? If it helps get any information, a woman and two children came to ID him. The children - one boy, one girl; the girl was older I'm fairly sure.

One of our local elementary schools is taking their 5th graders on a trip to EPCOT today. They sent a note home to parents saying that none of the kids are allowed to ride Mission: Space while on the trip. How sad.

From Anthony Murphy

Interesting post! I am a little suprised that they would say that since, in my opinion, the kids will be perfectly fine on this attraction and you (believe it or not) learn something on it! I guess alot of people complained at the school about it!

It is quite sad!
