'Intent of Return,' Carsland and Theme Park Industry Trends
Disneyland: Polls showing a record for Carsland and the future trends of theme park design as an industry whole.
Radiator Springs and Carsland has set an industry first...well perhaps a few. One of the more unique things is a record on what is called Intent of Return. It is the measure if the percentage or randomly polled people on how much they intend to return. This represents a broad stroke of things, like value, satisfaction and namely potential profits. It's a standard poll industry wide, found in both local and higher attended parks.
What is unique is that Radiators Springs and Cars Land has polled at a 100% Intent of Return, which up to this point, has been theoretically impossible for a length of polling of more than an hour- the idea is that within an hour, there should always be a few people who don't like what they just experienced. Well since Cars Land has opened, the daily surveys have represented a that roughly that almost everyone who has been in Carsland loved it so much they promise to return.
Now this raises many questions. Is Radiator Springs something that satisfies all demographics. Is it the perfect balance of theme, thrills, family rides and food?
Now since I don't work for Universal and don't have the inside track of things, I don't know the rate of Intent of Return with WWoHP or Transformers, but if they were 100%, I'm pretty sure they would be tooting their horn. Or it would be at least leaked. However, there is no question, between WWoHP, Carsland and the new Fantasyland, building extremely thorough and almost absurdly well themed lands may pay off tenfold. This, in my opinion, is a very fantastic trend.

It is impressive & is indicative of the positive visitor feedback when a theme park creates an immersive experience. Kudos to Disney & Universal for stepping to the plate with new lands such as Cars Land & Harry Potter. Hoping this trend continues. The duel of the theme parks is a win win for the tourists.
Avatar should do wonders for Animal Kingdom as well. Avengers was huge and presents lots of potential as a theme park attraction. Maybe cutting present day Disneyland Tomorrowland in two. Space Mountain, Star Tours, Buzz remain while the rest is turned into an Avengers themed land.
Don't take this the wrong way but did 100% of people polled say they wanted to come back because they loved it? Or is it because it was sooooo crowded they didn't get to experience anything so feel like they need to come back? Walking around there Sunday night at 9:30 pm it was hard to really experience everything because of the crowds. The line for food wasn't moving and the line for the raceway was listed at 3 1/2 hours. We figured that would be the case and will be returning in the Fall to get a better look and I anticipate it being wonderful. But if you asked us if we would be returning we would tell you definitely, but not because we enjoyed the experience yet? Does that make sense?

I understand what you're saying Cynthia. A "Yes, I'll return" doesn't really offer an insight behind the reasoning.
With that said, I'm sure from a number crunching perspective, as long as people return / say they'll return, the reason may not matter to them. As long as you'll come back, that's a positive.
And Sunday was super busy, and CarsLand is only about a week old, so eventually things won't be soooo front loaded there ( although it's always going to have a crowd)
I was surprised how fast I was able to get on RSR (30 min single rider line)
Jay is right. Doesn't matter if you have been on anything, it's the measure of the desire to return, despite not doing anything.
It will be interesting to see if they continue polling and what the results will be towards the end of July beginning of August.
