Serengeti Express RailwayRailroadAbout Serengeti Express RailwayThe Busch Gardens Serengeti Express Railroad opened in 1971, becoming the park’s second major ride following the monorail. The train takes guests on a two-mile perimeter ride around the 335-acre park with stops at the Congo, Stanleyville and Nairobi areas. Along the way, guests on the train ride can see hundreds of African animals on the Serengeti Plain, twisting elements of the SheiKra, Kumba and Montu roller coasters and other fascinating attractions at the park. The four locomotive engines are fueled by clean-burning propane gas. Two engines are replicas of the ones used in Africa in the early 1900s, while the remaining two are similar to those used in the American Old West. -- Last edited by Jill Revelle [Update this description | Read previous versions] Photos from Serengeti Express RailwaySafety
Readers' Opinions
7/10.It gets you around the park. But I prefer the skyride. - Nicholas Gammon This is a decent train ride, but more of an animal exhibit than an actual ride. I saw some ostriches and some rhinoceros, but I didn't feel it was the best train ride I've ever been on. - Patrick Gorham The best chance to see animals on this train is from Nairobi to Congo. If you have a folding stroller, you can take it on the train with you and therefore don't have to take the 'boring' trip from Congo to Stanleyville and back to Nairobi. - Amy Tupper It's a pretty good train ride. There are many opportunities to see animals here, probably more than on the Rhino Rally Ride. I have also seen a baby rhino, as well as adult rhinos within 10 feet of the train. - Roxy M This ride is nice.. fair... not really a ride. I even saw a baby rino on it! Also if you are planning to go to a certain ride, take the skyride, that ride don't break no speed limits. ( skyride opens 1 hour after park does ) - Katie G-Desjardins - roxy m
