Six Flags Great Adventure reviews
Written by Robert Niles
Location: Six Flags Great Adventure is located in Jackson, New Jersey, about half way between New York City and Philadelphia. You can get driving directions by clicking the Six Flags Great Adventure link on Theme Park Insider's Google map of U.S. theme parks.
History: The park opened in 1974 as The Enchanted Forest but was renamed Great Adventure in 1976 and was sold to Six Flags the next year. SFGA features the tallest roller coaster in the world: Kingda Ka.
Hours: http://www.sixflags.com. Six Flags Great Adventure is open from March through Labor Day, remaining open on weekends thru Halloween.
Tickets: Buy online. Always try to buy your tickets in advance, to save time when you get to the park. Getting them online is the best option. It saves time and money.
Reservations: Six Flags sells Flash Passes, which offer priority boarding opportunities. For much more, you can buy a VIP tour, which allows you and your group to skip all the lines. You can also make advance reservations online for Six Flags' Brunch with Bugs Bunny.
Strategy: As with any amusement park, arrive early (at least :30 minutes before opening) and hit the headliner attractions first (Kingda Ka should be your #1 priority as its lines get increasingly long throughout the day). After about 3 o'clock, head over to Hurricane Harbor if so desired.
Time Saving tips: If the Dream Street Skyway is running use it to easily get from one side of the park to the other. Additionally this attraction offers a great view of the park and lake.
The bridge between the Plaza del Carnival and Medusa is a handy shortcut on the far left of the park.
