Today in Orlando at the IAAPA Attractions Expo, the Themed Entertainment Association named the winners of its annual Thea Awards for excellence in the industry.
Universal Studios Hollywood's Waterworld show won the Thea Classic award, given to a long-running attraction that's established a legacy as one of the influential attractions in the themed entertainment industry.
USH also won a Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement in a Themed Food & Beverage Experience for its Springfield USA collection of The Simpsons-themed restaurants at the park.
The TEA awards Thea Awards for Outstanding Achievement to accomplishments it deems worthy of award, rather than sticking with a fixed line-up of one-winner categories from year to year.
Mack Rides won a Thea for Innovative Ride System for its suspended power coaster, which powers Europa Park's Arthur ride.
Shanghai Disneyland won Thea Awards for Attraction achievement for its Camp Discovery and Pirates of the Caribbean Battle for the Sunken Treasure. And the park won a Thea Award for Theme Park achievement. Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in China won the other Attraction award for its 5D Castle Theater.
