I just read that Diagon Alley will not be open for Halloween Horror Nights. Personally, I think they could have done something good with that. Dark Wizards and Dementors are pretty scary! Maybe its JK Rowling's request?
I'm kind of surprised. I never thought that it would actually be used for HHN, but I figured that it would just be open on its own without any Halloween/horror references, kind of like how Audrey Geisel forbade the use of scare actors in Seuss at IOA when they used to hold the event there.
The way Universal laid out Diagon Alley seems to allow it to be open during HHN but not have HHN occurring inside its area. As its slightly elevated and with controlled access.

There was never more than zero chance of Diagon Alley being part of HHN. That said, I would like to see Universal do more with Halloween and Christmas overlays at the two Wizarding Worlds. They are canon, so the opportunity is there.
