As the title says it was originally said that there would be a ticketing process to get into Diagon Alley , but am I assuming now after reading that people were queing to get in this has been shelved?

No, Universal is distributing return time tickets for Diagon Alley this afternoon. It appears that Universal will load the land until it is full, then when the standby line goes over some length, Universal will open the return time ticket machines.
