According the the following in park update, Battle Star Galactica will be reopening before the end of 2014.

Has anyone ever said why it was closed in the first place, other than that it was closed for an inspection?
Not that I know of. It just kind if closed, stayed that way for a whole long time while rumors popped up everywhere about what could be going wrong. I wonder if universal is just reopening it because they couldn't come up with another attraction or retgene for it

Yes! The Human side is one of my favorite coasters, anywhere. So glad to see this one coming back, and I hope that the ride will not be diminished.
