Readers can help save the Country Bear Christmas Show

November 2, 2006, 9:47 PM · The hot rumor out of the Magic Kingdom is that the powers that be at Walt Disney World have decided to save a few bucks by not installing the Christmas Show at the Country Bear Jamboree.

As a former "Bear Band" cast member, who has seen the three versions of this show, oh, about a combined 3,000 times, the Christmas show is my favorite. Disney's had great success with holiday overlays for its attractions, especially at Disneyland, but the Country Bear show is the original, and one of the few at Walt Disney World.

Fortunately, there might be some hope for Country Bear fans. Disney managers are said to be monitoring customer feedback on this, and an outcry of support for the Bears might help bring the Christmas show back. Perhaps even for this year.

So if you are visiting Walt Disney World this week, stop by the Magic Kingdom Guest Relations counter in City Hall, and make a polite request that Disney maintain the Country Bear's Christmas tradition. (Be sure that the cast member you speak with writes down your request!) And if you aren't going to be in the parks, find the snail mail address to write to Disney on our How to contact various theme parks wiki.

November 3, 2006 at 11:16 AM · i love the country bears christmas show is the best.
November 3, 2006 at 12:13 PM · I also love the X-mas Country Bear show!!
I dont think the amount of money it would cost to bring back this x-mas show would break the bank for the Walt Disney Co.
November 3, 2006 at 2:30 PM · ‘Twas the Season of Yule
and all through their lairs,
Was the dancing and singing
of Jamboree Bears.

The joyful cast members
spread lots of good cheer
So that kids and their kin
would return every year.

For the young and the old
had all come to see,
Some bright, Christmas magic
in the World of Disney.

Then what to my
Mouseketeer ears do I hear?
But that Christmas might end
in the Land of Frontier!”

Why the show is as timeless
as Santa himself,
And now some grumpy old Scrooge says,
“Away to the shelf!”

Don’t they know there are things
they should never undo?
Things as dear to our hearts as
Winnie the Pooh?

I wonder who arrived
at such a silly notion,
Some corporate wannabe
in line for promotion?

So let’s band together
write letters – unite!
Tell them, “KEEP THE JAMBOREE CHRISTMAS!”
But please be polite!

Happy Holidays! - Terri

November 3, 2006 at 2:33 PM · I am sort of a fan of the country bears (but not the movie) and my family loves our time w/ them every Christmas. What a huge disappointment. We always spend an extended weekend at Disney for the holidays (Jacksonville) and it is a shame one of our Christmas favs will be gone.

It is missed already!

November 3, 2006 at 3:50 PM · hey sry for the double post but is it conformed that it will not be there?
November 5, 2006 at 2:37 PM · Unfortunetely, all three of my boys are afraid of these bears. My oldest, 8, didn't like the movie and they won't give them a chance. I would love to see the show some day if it stays.
