Line up released for Mardi Gras, 2008, at Universal Studios

January 6, 2008, 4:34 PM · It's out. The official line up for Universal Studio's Mardi Gras celebrations, 2008, are as follow.

February 2 - Bret Michaels of Poison
February 9 - Go-Go's
February 16 - Sara Evans
February 23 - Third Eye Blind

March 1 - Gretchen Wilson
March 8 - Smokey Robinson
March 15 - Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons
March 22 - Kool & The Gang
March 29 - Heart

April 5 - TBA
April 12 - LL Cool J
April 19 - TBA

The shocker for me is Bret Michaels, from "Rock of Love" fame. He can't be any worse than Kid Rock last year (Look it up on youtube).

As a guess, I'd say Huey Lewis and the News or KC and the Sunshine Band will fill in the 2 blank weeks.
My long shot guess would be Smash Mouth, ,they were planned to appear a few years back and cancalled last minute. With their songs being used in Films, such as Shrek and them having an open few months for concerts, it could be worth a bet.

I'll be there, look for me on the floats, and have fun!

Heart will be good and it's nice to see Smokey although I think he is a bit outdated for this event.

January 7, 2008 at 2:42 PM · Agree...weak line up.

KC and the Sunshine Band should also be performing.
He lives here in Orlando and has played every year at Mardi Gras.
My guess is he will play on the last day of Mardi Gras like last year.

January 7, 2008 at 5:16 PM · No on KC, he has gigs on those nights, April 5th, Private gig in Washington DC and April 19th Vive Cuervo in Mexico City. So that rules KC & the Sunshine band out.

Huey Lewis and the News are currently free on both dates.

Smash Mouth are very open, so I still have my bets placed on them.

What about all of the American Idol rejects? None booked so far, after the past 2 years of getting a few??

I also wouldn't agree on the weak line up.
Third Eye Blind are a hit band, Sara Evans is huge in the country scene and the Go Go's were a top band back in the 80's with a huge following still.
For a free concert I thinks its a pretty impressive selection. Its not like Universal would even dare to spend the money on getting Top Current artists like Alicia Keys or Timbaland, as examples. I doubt they would want to attract a few thousand screaming teenage girls as they can't drink, so renevue would be low, and probably too many lawsuits for their liking would get started.

January 7, 2008 at 5:12 PM · I'd still like to see Counting Crows show up. They had to cancel a few years back...
