Disney cancels California Adventure's Food and Wine Festival

November 3, 2010, 4:00 PM · Disney announced today that, due to ongoing construction at Disney California Adventure, the Anaheim theme park will not put on the west coast version of the Food & Wine Festival next year or in 2012.

When you think about it, the move shouldn't surprise anyone. Disney brought this version of popular Epcot festival to California Adventure several years ago, as one of its many attempts to boost attendance at Disneyland's younger sibling. While popular, the festival hasn't matched the scale of the Epcot original but it did give many locals a reason to come out to the park.

And with World of Color now bringing even larger crowds into the park, where construction walls are constricting space during busy periods, there just wasn't enough room for an extra event like this.

Disney's announcement didn't say that the DCA Food & Wine Festival is gone forever, leaving hope that it might reappear in 2013.

As somebody who has been to both, CA version looked like amateur hour compared to EPCOT's. They simply did not have the space or, I guess, effort to put on a good one! I mean, there are more CA wines (many owned by people that have done Business with Disney such as Fess Parker) at EPCOTS than DCA?!?!

Sadly, Its not the same at all!

I fully understand canceling it during construction, but I very much hope it returns in 2013. We've always had a fantastic time at California Food and Wine.
