The Tonight Show is coming to Orlando for the Diagon Alley opening

May 20, 2014, 9:41 AM · The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is coming to Orlando for a week next month to help celebrate the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley.

Tonight Show in Orlando

NBC announced the news last night. The show will tape daily at Universal Orlando June 16-19, and tickets for the taping will be available to the public. Follow the show's Twitter feed @FallonTonight for the details. This will be the first time that the Tonight Show has hit the road since Fallon took over as host and the show moved back to New York City from Southern California.

One nit-pick, though, for our friends at NBC. That's a nice use of palm trees in your promotional graphic, but that wooden roller coaster clip art you used sure doesn't look like any roller coaster at Universal Orlando. ;^)

Universal also has sent reporters a preliminary schedule of events for the media event on June 17-20, including a media reception at CityWalk on the 17th, a "State of the Universe" presentation and red carpet event with Harry Potter film stars on the 18th, a media day in Diagon Alley on the 19th, and departures on the 20th.

What wasn't included on that top-line itinerary was a public grand opening ceremony, such as Universal held on the Friday morning of its June 2010 media event for the original Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Islands of Adventure. But Universal also didn't mention anything about The Tonight Show in that media advisory, either, and that's in the mix now, so the schedule of events clearly continues to evolve.

What a great extra, I hope they don't only use plants and will let in day guests.

Disney has for years been cross-promoting their brands across their broad media/entertainment empire. Now that Comcast owns Universal, their parks are on level footing in terms of advertising muscle, and they appear to be taking advantage of that.
