Disney Files Plans for a New Frozen Meet and Greet Building in Epcot

January 13, 2015, 7:09 PM · Walt Disney World today filed plans with the South Florida Water Management District for a new Frozen meet and greet building, to be constructed between the Norway and Mexico pavilions at Epcot.

We had known that Disney was converting the old Maelstrom boat ride to a Frozen-themed attraction, and that a meet-and-greet would be part of the new overlay for the Norway pavilion, but today's filing confirms that the meet-and-greet will happen in a new building, rather than taking over some existing space in the pavilion.

From Disney's description of the project in the application: "The project includes the following: construction of a 13,000 +/- sf building that will house a Disney guest attraction and a women's restroom; construction of a 2,000 sf modular type building to replace a similar building demolished for the project; construction of two small parking lots that have a total of 18 parking spaces; relocation of piping and mechanical equipment associated with a beverage dispensing kiosk; modification and addition of sidewalks and planters; new underground utilities; modification to the existing restroom in the Norway attraction building."

That's.......interesting.
What about boys who love Anna and Elsa as well.. and what about the fathers..

They should consider expanding some popular countries like France by adding attractions like Ratatouille. I will be glad if they add a night market to the China pavilion. Finally add a Mt Fuji roller coaster to Japan. I highly doubt Disney will ever get another corporate or national sponsorship to open a new country.

As for Frozen, Norway, I mean Arendelle will be a madhouse. Or more properly a princess frozen wonderland.

Future World needs to be updated for a new generation. Re-utilize the space from closed attractions with new ones, and replace or update the others. Update the energy ride and have it hosted by Mike and Sully. The park is a celebration of the world, where we are going and our heritage. Attractions based on Disney properties need to match the theme of each area. Add some more educational elements to The Seas to make it more like it was was before the Nemo conversion. There may never be a city of the future like Walt envisioned, but an overhaul to update future world could at least bring it closer to Walt's vision of a showcase of new ideas, and of science and technology. Keep adding attractions to the world showcase. Disney needs to remember what Walt said, the parks will never be finished. Because of its theme, Future World needs to be updated every couple of years because it quicklly becomes dated.

January 14, 2015 at 6:51 AM · Does this mean that they may also be expanding the ride? or will it purely be for the meet and greet
January 14, 2015 at 7:04 AM · I really like this idea. Had the M&G been part of the existing Maelstrom attraction building, it'd really be taking up precious space, while leaving that chunk empty next door. This is a great way to maximize the Norway pavilion.

I'd really love to see them get rid of the Africa station, as it's all done much bigger and better at Animal Kingdom. That space could be used for...something...anything else.

If I remember correctly, the proposed location for the new building coincides with the location of the "orchid garden" during the flower and garden festival. Not really a big deal but if I'm right, I hope EPCOT moves the orchids to another location.
January 14, 2015 at 8:45 AM · I'm with Mike because "guest attraction" could be a ride couldn't it?
January 14, 2015 at 10:24 AM · I am guessing they are only building a Woman's restroom because the existing Norway restroom's will be converted to all Men's. If you look at the site plan the restrooms are included in the plan. As attendance has grown the need for bigger restrooms has as well.
