Twisted Colossus to Open May 23

April 29, 2015, 12:30 PM · Six Flags Magic Mountain announced today that the opening day for Twisted Colossus will be Saturday, May 23.

Twisted Colossus

The steel re-top of the park's wooden Colossus will be the world's longest hybrid coaster, as it blends both of Colossus' former sides into one, continuous ride.

Trains have been mounted on the track, and the park ran its first test drop last night. Two-train tests are expected to start within a few days.

A media preview will happen earlier that week, which will be a busy one here on Theme Park Insider, with the premiere of the Justice League ride at Six Flags Over Texas on May 19 and the kickoff of Disneyland's 60th anniversary Diamond Celebration on May 22.

April 29, 2015 at 12:58 PM · Looks amazing. When are you going to ride it, Robert?
April 29, 2015 at 1:37 PM · Wonder when the Gold pass preview days will be?
April 29, 2015 at 2:50 PM · I am hoping that the media day will be on Wednesday, May 20, so I can squeeze that in between Justice League at Six Flags Over Texas on Tuesday and Disneyland on Friday.

Just got word that the Laff Trakk media opening will be on May 19th, as well. It's the #BestWeekEver!

April 29, 2015 at 5:02 PM · I can't wait to ride this coaster. Even though I've heard people say it looks weaker than some of RMC's other rides, I still think it looks great. In fact, I'm considering braving the crowds and likely 3+ hour wait to ride it on opening day.
April 29, 2015 at 5:30 PM · It looks weaker than other RMC's? I think not :) They all look great though, but I think TC has unique elements that we haven't seen on the other RMCs... that low airtime hill after the drop, and the green track going into/out of the high-five, and the green double-down .... ridiculous!!!! :)
April 29, 2015 at 8:07 PM · I don't think that it will be a weaker RMC. From pictures, it looks like it has some sick ejector time. I wasn't sure either if this was going to be a good coaster, but pictures now tell me that this is going to be one of the better coasters here on the West Coast. :D
April 30, 2015 at 7:47 AM · I wish I can go on media preview too. I just can't stand the regular crowd that goes there. A nasty place to visit. (Sorry).
April 30, 2015 at 10:16 AM · Anon Mouse why a nasty place? I've been 1-5 times each summer over the last 24 years. I'm 48 years old now. Never had a single problem or issue with any of the summer crowds, other than friendliness. Long waits without Flashpass maybe, but never any issue.
