Universal Orlando Confirms NBC Sports-Themed Bar for CityWalk

June 1, 2015, 8:22 AM · Universal Orlando Resort this morning officially revealed the replacement for the NASCAR-themed restaurant in CityWalk. Universal's keeping this one in the corporate family, with the NBC Sports Grill & Brew restaurant opening this fall. Here's the announcement, from Liam McHugh of NBC Sports' NHL coverage:

The sports bar will feature more than 90 television screens and a selection of more than 100 beers. From the press release: "You’ll be able to choose from an extensive menu of more than 75 different items. Pick from traditional favorites like burgers and steaks to custom creations like crab scotch eggs."

Harry Potter is basically a license to print money and Universal / Comcast / NBC is not putting it all in the bank. They just keep expanding and updating.... I love it.

If they are doing anything while I'm down at Universal next week I'll post some construction photos.

June 1, 2015 at 8:03 PM · Yeah- Comcast has an NBC Sports bar in Philly. It's an unimpressive bar on your way to the game. Comcast doesn't seem to have a high standard when it comes to F&B. I hope the food in Orlando is better than it was at NASCAR. This could be a great addition to Citywalk.
I haven't heard a definitive yay or nay on whether Antojitos or Cowfish have been amazing success's or just middle of the road tourist feeding grounds. Can someone on these boards please chime in?
June 1, 2015 at 9:24 PM · I'm almost certain that Universal Orlando will be running the show on the food at the CityWalk NBC Sports bar and not whoever is running the kitchen in Philly. Given UOR's track record with the new CityWalk restaurants, I'd be hopeful for a better experience.

I had good experiences at Antojitos, Cowfish, and Vivo (see links at the bottom of the main post, above). Of those, I think I'd rate Vivo the best, but there's good food to be had at all three. No, they're not fine dining, but they're far better than your standard I-Drive or 192 chain restaurant.

June 2, 2015 at 7:04 AM · Wow, that's a lot of LED that will be spilling a ton of light onto the waterfront below. And seriously, "Grill & Brew"? Doesn't quite roll off the tongue. Was "NBC Sports Bar" taken? That's what folks will call it anyway.
