Born on December 13, 1925, in West Plains, Missouri, Van Dyke got his start in local television in Atlanta before moving to Broadway, where his big break came in landing one of the lead roles in "Bye Bye Birdie," for which he won a Tony Award. In 1998, Van Dyke was enshrined as a "Disney Legend" for his many performances in Disney productions.
