Disney's Hollywood Studios gets its new holiday show

October 14, 2016, 9:42 AM · The Walt Disney World Resort has announced its new night-time holiday show for Disney's Hollywood Studios. The Studios long had been the home for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights but that gargantuan display of holiday lights and decorations closed after last year, since Disney was tearing down its Streets of America home to make way for Star Wars Land.

The new show extracts the tiniest bit of vengeance for the Osborne display by evicting one of the park's current Star Wars shows, Star Wars A Galactic Spectacular, at least temporarily. "Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!" will play in the Chinese Theater courtyard from Nov. 14 through Dec. 31, celebrating the holiday season with projection mapping, fireworks, lighting effects, and — hey, the Star Wars show doesn't have this! — snow.

(Well, it's that Disney soap-bubble fake "snow," but in Central Florida, you take what you can get.)

The set-up is that Wayne and Lanny, the "Prep & Landing" elves are leading a "search-and-rescue mission" for Santa Claus. The show will include songs and scenes from Mickey’s Christmas Carol, Beauty and the Beast, Pluto’s Christmas Tree, Bambi, and even Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas before wrapping up with a special message from Mr. Claus.

And, yes, Disney will offer an upcharge dessert party with a reserved viewing area for the show, too. That will be $69 for adults and $39 for kids.

October 14, 2016 at 11:09 AM · Smart, very smart. I've only seen the Prep and Landing special once, but I remember laughing extremely hard at the gag about the elves "revving-up" the reindeer -

Elf - "yeah."
Reindeer - yeah."
Elf - "Yeah."
Reindeer - "Yeah."
Elf - "YEAH!"
Reindeer - "YEAH!"
Both - "YEAH!!!!!!!!"

It's a riot!
