Universal officially opens Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon

April 6, 2017, 6:07 AM · ORLANDO — Universal Orlando welcomed Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show family to Universal Studios Florida this morning for a grand opening of their new attraction, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The crew marched down Universal's New York Street, in front of the representation of NBC's 30 Rockefeller Plaza headquarters that houses the park's The Tonight Show experience.

Originally pitched by Fallon to Universal Creative executives years ago, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon replaces the Twister: Ride It Out attraction in the park. Featuring a Virtual Line where all visitors must reserve a return time in advance, Race Through New York includes a museum-like tribute to the show's six hosts — Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, and Fallon — as well as a Studio 6B lounge area where fans can meet the show's Hashtag the Panda and see a live performance by the show's Ragtime Gals (a barbershop quintet that sings boy band and hip hop tunes.) The finale is a flying theater 3D race through the city, with a side trip to the Moon.

We reviewed the entire experience during its soft opening for the press last month. We wrote: "whether you care about Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show, or NBC's ratings, or not, you can enjoy the impressive decoration of Universal's faux 30 Rock, the meet and greet with Hashtag, the live musical performance... and the fun 3D romp around New York."
