Monsters After Dark to run all day on Halloween at California Adventure

October 23, 2017, 5:30 PM · Disneyland announced today that it will run its Halloween overlay on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride at Disney California Adventure all day on October 31.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark has been running in the evenings during the Halloween season in place of the Mission Breakout version of the ride, which debuted last spring. The Halloween overlay takes place immediately after the Mission Breakout narrative, as the rest of the Guardians must reenter The Collector's Fortress after escaping it in order to save Groot, who's been left behind.

The overlay offers just one version, as opposed to the six different versions of the Mission Breakout ride. But fans have loved it, and it has run to almost unanimously adoring reviews since it opened last month.

The all-day run on Halloween will give guests who don't want to stay late into the evening on trick-or-treat night the opportunity to experience the newest version of the ride. Halloween is the final day for the Monsters After Dar overlay, however. The ride returns to full-time operation for Mission Breakout starting November 1.

At least... until Disney "drops" another overlay for the ride.

Some of us are only able to visit in the fall, and, for example, I haven't been on the real Haunted Mansion in years as a result. (The jack skellington thing is okay, but I gotta have my Grim Grinning Ghosts!)

Coupled with the early ejection you might get if you accidentally attend on a Halloween Party night, and the fall can be a lame time to attend.
