Disneyland teams with Amtrak for new ticket discounts

February 15, 2018, 9:39 AM · Now Disneyland visitors can get a discount on Disney theme park experience typically associated with the Tokyo and Paris resorts — taking the train to the parks.

Amtrak is offering free kids' tickets to Anaheim on its Pacific Surfliner as part of a promotion with the Disneyland Resort. It's one free kids' ticket with each adult ticket purchased on the Pacific Surfliner website, using the discount code V231. Once you've booked your tickets to Anaheim, you can use your reservation number to unlock an additional discount code on the website that will get you five percent off the price of Disneyland's SoCal Resident Ticket. That takes the price of a two-day Park Hopper down to $194, or $232 for three days. One-park-per-day tickets are $151 for two days and $189 for three.

Note that the Disneyland tickets must be used by May 24 and that they are blocked out March 23 through April 8. The offer is valid only for visitors who can prove residency in ZIP codes 90000-93599 in Southern California or ZIP codes 21000-22999 in Northern Baja California. The Amtrak tickets also are blocked out on February 16 and 19, March 30, and April 2.

Rail transport delivers millions of visitors a year to the Tokyo Disney and Disneyland Paris resorts, but the Disneyland Resort lacks the on-site train station that those resorts enjoy. So you will have to take Anaheim's ART bus to the park from the Anaheim train station, which is located next to the Honda Center hockey arena. But your Amtrak ticket gets you on the bus for free. (Take Route 15 to Disneyland.)

Don't forget that by taking the train, you're not paying for parking at Disneyland, either. So that's another $20 saved right there.
