Southern California gets ready for Halloween with Midsummer Scream

June 19, 2018, 11:29 PM · We are just a little over a month away from what's become the start of the Halloween season in Southern California — the annual Midsummer Scream convention.

The area's top Halloween con runs from July 28-29 at the Long Beach Convention Center. More than 20,000 fans are expected at the event, which traditionally features presentations from all the region's theme parks, previewing their upcoming Halloween events.

This year, Six Flags Magic Mountain is kicking off the season in a big way at Midsummer Scream, with a scarezone that will serve as the gateway to the featured haunted attractions area within the expanded, 80,000-square-foot Hall of Shadows.

"Visitors will experience over a dozen haunted attractions, live entertainment, and check out exhibitors who are right at home in this dimly-lit environment," Rick West, Creative Director, Midsummer Scream, said. "Hall of Shadows is a virtual commercial for Halloween in Southern California, and has become a huge, unique feature of Midsummer Scream that isn’t replicated anywhere else.”

Tickets for the event start at $30 for Sunday admission, with $34 for Saturday and $50 for the weekend, with $65 "Gold Bat" admissions getting you one hour of early entry, priority admission to panels, and front of line access to select Hall of Shadows attractions. All tickets are available now on the Midsummer Scream website.

We are planning to be at Midsummer Scream this year, as we ramp up our coverage of Halloween on Theme Park Insider. So if you see us on the show floor, be sure to say hello. Because unlike pretty much everything else at Midsummer Scream... we're not that scary. (Sorry!)
