Aquatica Orlando drops its new water slide for 2020

November 15, 2019, 3:26 PM · Aquatica Orlando today announced its new slide for 2020, Riptide Race, which the park is calling "Florida’s first-ever dueling water slide."

Riders will slide in two-person rafts from a 68-foot tower down 650 feet to the final splash — "dueling face-to-face, racers will navigate tight loops and accelerations through indoor and outdoor sections," according to the water park's press release. Here's the hype video:

"Riptide Race will offer a ride experience you won’t be able to get anywhere else in Florida. Aquatica will be the first waterpark in the state to have a thrilling, and more importantly, dueling water slide," Aquatica Orlando vice president David Heaton said. "Riptide Race is the perfect addition to our attraction portfolio, complementing what is already one of the most family friendly waterslide lineups in Orlando."

To be located next to Banana Beach Cook Out, Riptide Race will have a 42-inch height requirement and open in 2020.

Sounds great. That part about family friendly lineup isn't really true though. My son is 40 inches tall and can do so much more at the Disney Water Parks.
