The Pirates Are in Sight at Europa Park

May 18, 2020, 3:40 PM · As we look forward to the reopening of Europa Park next week, let's not overlook the new attraction that's scheduled to come to Germany's biggest theme park this year — Pirates in Batavia.

A fire destroyed the park's old Pirates in Batavia ride two years ago this month. But the Mack family decided to rebuild the popular indoor boat ride, taking the opportunity to update this popular attraction with new technology and story enhancements.

In a video series, Europa Park is detailing the making of this new attraction. In the first episode, the park introduces the character of Bartholomeus van Robbemond and sets up the story that will drive the ride, while providing a few looks at its construction. The videos are in German, but the visuals of concept art, construction scenes and backstage looks work in any language.

In the second episode, released this week, Europa Park continues with a look at the fabrication of the ride's boats as well as its characters and show scenes.

Pirates in Batavia is scheduled to debut later this year.

Just a heads up, both videos have English subtitles available.
