D23 Postpones 'Destination D' to 2021

June 26, 2020, 1:31 PM · Disney's official fan club, D23, announced today that it will postpone its big fan event scheduled for this year, Destination D, until 2021.

Destination D: Fantastic Worlds had been scheduled for this November at the Walt Disney World Resort. D23 has been holding the Destination D event in Florida in even-number years, alternating with its much larger D23 Expo in odd-numbered years at the Anaheim Convention Center, across the street from the Disneyland Resort. The schedule change would put D23's biggest events - Destination D and the D23 Expo - in the same year.

D23 said that it will announce the new dates for Destination D later this year.

Many of us giggled last year when Disney announced the theme for the latest Destination D event, since "Fantastic Worlds" was the name that Universal leaked, then abandoned, for its planned third theme park in Orlando, which became Epic Universe instead. Like everything else in the world, it seems, that new theme park is on hold now, too.
