Tokyo Disneyland Expansion to Open September 28

September 17, 2020, 11:20 AM · The Tokyo Disney Resort announced today that it will open its new Tokyo Disneyland attractions this month.

The expansion — which includes the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast trackless dark ride, The Happy Ride with Baymax spinner ride, and the Minnie's Style Studio meet and greet location — spans three lands in the park, making it the largest expansion in the park's history. However, one of the attractions in the project — the Broadway-style Fantasyland Forest Theatre and its Mickey's Magical Music World show — will not be included in this months's opening and will debut at a later date.

The Tokyo Disneyland expansion had been scheduled to debut in April, but Tokyo Disney owner Oriental Land Co. postponed the opening indefinitely due to the pandemic.

Tokyo Disney will limit capacity at the new attractions and their associated shops and dining areas with assigned entry times via the official Tokyo Disney Resort app.

Awfully exciting to hear about something of this caliber opening this year. If anyone can do it and do it right, it's Tokyo Disneyland Resort. I'm very hopeful we will get to see some great images and video of the new lands and the rides soon after it opens. It's hard to imagine any trackless ride topping Pooh's Honey Hunt, but I suspect the new Beauty and the Beast attraction will surpass Pooh, if for no other reason the animatronic figures which we've already gotten a preview of.
