Brand new Disney rumor

Walt Disney World: Incredibles Robo-coaster

Brand new Disney rumors.... There is going to be an Incredibles robo-coaster where Carosel of progress is. That seems to really be taking Walts dream away. I know its dated but its a piece of history. Walt is probably rolling over in his cryogenic chamber.

Nah, I do not see that happening for three reasons!

1. If they want to get rid of the Carosel of Progress, they would have by now and put something else in. Also, it is one of Disney World's "treasures" in my opinion since it is the ONLY ride ridden by Walt Himself at WDW.

2. What does the Incredables have to do with Tomorrowland? Of course, what does Monsters INC have to do with anything either.

3. I do not think that Disney is going THAT Pixar Crazy. Another rumor will be that they are redoing the Indy Speedway to Cars (which wouldn't be too bad of an idea IMO). That would make Cars, The Incredibles, Monsters INC, and Toy Story all in one area. Disney is nuts, but not that nuts.

As you can see, I LOVE Carosel of Progress so I really hope this rumor is not true. I would guess that it isn't true because the rumor of Carosel of Progress being gone has been around forever. If they still want a coaster, knock down the stage that does NOTHING for most of the year!

This is an OLD Rumor that first surfaced for the old Millionaire building. Disney has been in contact with the robocoaster people, and are very interested in doing something with it...but they havent found what they want to do just yet...some speculate that this Midway Mania thing will incorporate it. I think you will see CoP go away in the near future, and it will be replaced with something Pixar. Why? Because it sells. Stop buying it, and they wont kill it.
ALSO...rumor of a Cars attraction going into CoP...like an "off road" turntable or something. I really hope thats not the case.

I doubt it. Carousel of progress isn't all that big, really. There isn't a whole lot you could fit into that building. Literally, they'd have to tear that thing down to put in a sizeable enough building there to house anything remotely large enough to take care of the immense crowds that will inevitably flock to the attraction.

But stranger things have happened.

Everyone in CoP ages except the dog, something tells me that dog got replaced a few times but they didn't tell the kids!! Hmmmm........

From Robert Niles

You could easily fit a Robocoaster in the footprint of the Carousel of Progress building. The Robocoaster installation at Legoland California (use the Browse Parks link above to click to Knight's Tournament at Legoland) stands on very little space. That's one of the advantages of the Robocoaster.

Disney's been blurring its land themes for years, and Incredibles in Tomorrowland wouldn't be the worst offense. Finding Nemo in Disneyland's Tomorrowland is far worse, IMHO. (Disney's got a problem in that few of the Pixar films fit well in existing Disneyland/MK lands.)

Personally, I'd love to see this rumor come true. CoP is nice for its history, but I'd rather see those elements recycled into a fresher attraction, like Disney did with CoP's replacement at Disneyland -- America Sings -- and Splash Mountain.

I am a Disney traditionalist and I love CoP but I have been listening to people complain about ride updates and changes for years. Let's be real; if all the attractions stayed the same forever Disney would lose out to other parks and eventually close. The Disney we grew up with catered to US and now as adults we must let the wheels of progress (LOL) move on and cater to our children. These new attractions are what THEY know. Have you asked your kids who Mr. Toad is? I was bummed when they got rid of Swiss family for Tarzan but my kids don't know Swiis Family they know Tarzan, (even if it is lame) Many of the new attractions are fabulous, sure there are some stinkers but there were when we were kids too, every park has them. If CoP isn't drawing the crowds then let's bring in something new. I'm all for it. If they didn't we never would have Buzz, (which my family really enjoys) or Indiana Jones etc. Things change and usually it's for the best.

Well my experences going to both Disneyland and Disney World reciently shows how spineless Disney World is by replacing rides. They should have definatly kept Mr. Toad's Wild Ride there and put the Pooh ride over by where 20,000 Leauges used to be instead of that awful playground. Disney World also managed to screw up the Tiki Room Royally. That goodness those rides are still preserved at Disneyland. Yes, I am a Disney traditionalist, but that ride has history in more ways of being just Disney's. It was a World's Fair and one of the the first attractions ever created anywhere with animatronics. Also, and I might be a minority opinion, but the Robocoaster looks just plain stupid at Legoland.

Anthony, Disneyland isn't so innocent either though. They did axe Country Bear Jamboree in favor of Pooh and turned the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse in to Tarzan's Treehouse.

Also, I don't think you need to know the characters on a ride to enjoy it, as someone suggested earlier. When I was 3, I had no clue who Mr. Toad was but I still loved his ride. And just look at Splash Mountain. When the ride opened, Song of the South was in no way popular and I doubt most people even knew what it was, and yet it's still one of Disney's most popular and celebrated attractions. The first time I was on Splash Mountain was when I was 17 (I'm 19 now) and even then I had no clue the ride was actually based on a movie, but I still loved it.

Whoops, I forgot to finish my thought before :)

I know that Disneyland is not that innocent. They got rid of Country Bears and put Pooh instead. I think thats one of the WORST ideas Disney had since the Pooh ride is better at Disney World. Yeah, they took out Toad, but Pooh is decient enough. I just feel that Disney World has caused more problems with this than Disneyland. The Tiki Room Really went down at Disney World. I am just shocked that Disney World knocks down ride for new ones since they have enough room to put new attractions most of the time!

Less we forget the Alien Encounter for Stich fiasco/disaster or changing up Pirates in WDW to update it with 3 Captain Jack animatronics. I'm okay with that, but still bitter about Alien Encounter, the seemingly only ride which catered to adult patrons.

From Anthony Murphy
Posted January 16, 2007 at 7:30 AM
That is the problem with Alien Encounter. It was too "adult" for the Magic Kingdom. I used to be scared of it when I was little, but it has to be one of the most unique rides I had ever been on. It shows that Disney can scare you if they so choose!

From David Kirby
Posted January 16, 2007 at 10:01 AM
Well I'm not so sure Alien Encounter is considered to be a classic Disney attraction.

From Jaivion Williams
Posted January 16, 2007 at 6:58 PM
that's correct, thats why they changed it to stitch great escape. It was so funny one time when we were at Magic Kingdom and this Family Traveled for Los Angeles to get on that attraction.

They complained because there was an malfunction. When we finally got on the attraction, and the lights went out of and stitch escaped their whole family got so scared they had to leave the attraction. So just letting people know, both of the attraction are scary.

No offense to anyone who's in love with it, but Stitch's Great Escape is possibly the most boring ride anywhere. Ever. I get ushered into a seat to watch a puppet speak unintelligable dialog to a voice over intercom, while they shine flashlights on him and they blow nasty air into my face. ???

The Disney Imagineers make me so angry sometimes, it's not even funny. Here you have the greatest pallet ever constructed - a three dimensional canvas, a willing audience, and every human's dream: a chance to create an immaculate reality - and you come up with what? Stitch's Great Escape. You've got ASIMO kicking a soccer ball and dancing the hula on the next stage over, and you give me Stitch's Great Escape? On the grounds where the personal monorail was practically invented, the same place where the concept of people on conveyor belts was first put into practice, you give me Stitch's GREAT ESCAPE?

Are you crazy? Stitch's Great Escape belongs on the back of a flat-bed, being dragged around to Hillary Duff concerts, or being built in miniature in the far left corner of Disney Stores in malls across America. People pay thousands of dollars for Disney vacations and they ought to be shown a door into a world that is as much like Wonka's chocolate factory as it is like downtown Paris and yet you give them JUNK popcorn attractions like Stitch's Great Escape.

I know you cannot compare the two technology vs. technology, but compare the spirit of Stitch's Great Escape to what people get with The Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, or Space Mountain and tell me it belongs in the Magic Kingdom.

What a joke.

Does Disney have some kind of study panel! I would love to be on it and I bet many others would like it too! It is really sad that we are comming up with better ideas! For example, my idea was to make the new Monsters Inc attraction have something to do with the new movie Meet the Robinsons which is about a family of the future and involves time travel. I dont know, that makes sense to me!

From David Kirby

Disney doesn't generally create attractions based on films not yet released. Also, there's no certainty on the success of the movie. On the other hand, Monsters Inc. was a highly succesful movie for them, and it will attract more guests just because it's such a popular movie, so I really can't blame them for the new Monsters Inc attraction.

I just saw some concept art on their corporate pages.
Midway Mania looks like Buzz Lightyear with glasses. They have a CARS version of Test Track. And a Monsters Inc version of MIB.....the originality apple has fallen and rotten away.

Spiderman....hmmmm that was taken from disney?
Dueling Dragons, sure and in fact the whole Lost Continent was originally Beastly Kingdom....but disney fired those imagineers and cut that....so they didnt technically steal...they just used it somewhere else. And the other ones...what exactly did they steal? Which rides at Universal are like disneys? Okay, Storm Force......One Fish two fish....what else?

From Jaivion Williams

Also I heard from Orlando's radio that universal is having a La Nouba type show.

From RANDY TAYLOR

I know this is a bit off topic, but let's not feel too sorry for Disney being stolen from. After all, the entire story of the Lion King was stolen from a 60s Japanese cartoon by the name of Kimba the White Lion. Go to the web site if you don't believe me.The site is:Lion's Corner of the web and click on "Lion King?"

From David Kirby

The basis for their movies really isn't relevant, especially when you consider that virtually none of their animated films are original. For example Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Tarzan, etc... None of them are Disney creations, so Disney "stealing the Lion king" so to speak doesn't give other parks the right to take their ideas.

From Jaivion Williams

Thats true many companies made movies and things if stories, but disney makes them the best type.I never heard anything about lion king being a story before disney created it.

From Anthony Murphy

I just went to the website and it is NOT the same thing. Yes, Disney did take some similarites in the overall look of it, but the storyline from what I saw has a human in it and revolves mostly around the Human Lion interaction.

Anyway, Disney did Create Lilo and Stich.
