SeaWorld rumors: New ride at Penguin Encounter confirmed
Sea World Orlando: Lots of good stuff from insiders about happenings at SeaWorld Orlando.
I know we're supposed to be all about Disney World this weekend, but I got some interesting nuggets about SeaWorld I didn't want to wait to pass along.
SeaWorld's filed construction drawings for three buildings going up next to Penguin Encounter (near Journey to Atlantis and Kraken) in Orlando. From what I've been told by people who've seen them and can recognize such things, the plans include a ride system. So it looks like the rumors of a new ride going in as an expansion of the Penguin Encounter or a replacement for it are true.
But what will it be?

Some sort of penguin based dark ride would be fine with me...maybe some tie-in with "Happy Feet Two" coming out?
Mr. Popper's Penguins the ride.
Maybe an indoor tweener/family coaster in which you ride penguin shaped cars through an arctic environment? I'm thinking Crush's Coaster at Disney Studios Paris with the arctic theme replacing the EAC because as of now all of Sea World's coasters are exteme in either direction. Kraken and Manta are pure thrill rides while Shamu Express is a kiddie coaster.
This is fantastic news. Can't wait to hear more about it. Maybe a dark ride, Spider-man style maybe?
Daniel...that would be.....TERRIBLE :P
I'm very much seeing a dark ride using the Darkastle system from BGW.
No idea on the theme though.
OOOH! I think a family ride where parents AND little kids can share a time together would be great.
As long as they add even MORE cute penguins!
I spoke with Jason Garcia at the Sentinel this morning, and he has some
more details about the SeaWorld expansion.
