Tokyo Disneyland

Disney's first theme park outside the United States, Tokyo Disneyland opened April 15, 1983 and drew nearly 15 million visitors last year, making it the fourth most-visited theme park in the world. Though Tokyo Disneyland looks much like Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, there are several notable differences: World Bazaar, covered by a glass-and-steel canopy, occupies the Main Street space, while Westernland replaces Frontierland. An expansion in 2020 added a new "Beauty and the Beast"-themed area to Fantasyland, along with new attractions in Toontown and Tomorrowland.

To reach the Tokyo Disney Resort, take the JR (Japan Railway) Keiyo Line/Musashino Line to Maihama Station. Or take a bus from Narita Airport, purchasing your ticket at the Airport Limousine Bus Ticket Counter in the Narita Airport Arrival Lobby.

Strategy

The best way to buy tickets in advance outside Japan is through our partner, Klook: Buy Tokyo Disney theme park tickets. Tokyo Disney fans do not mess around, queuing more then an hour before the park opens in order to reserve spots for the park's digital queues.

Download the official Tokyo Disney app before you arrive. Once you are scanned into the park, you will be able to use the app to buy Disney Premier Access or to request Priority Pass access for select attractions.

Disney Premier Access is a paid Lightning Lane-like alternate queue access. Each park ticket can buy one Disney Premier Access at a time, purchasing the next after 60 minutes or the admission time for your Premier Access, whichever is earlier. The eligible shows are:

  • Club Mouse Beat
  • Disney Harmony in Color parade
  • Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights
  • Mickey's Magical Musical World
  • Reach for the Stars projection show
The eligible attractions are:
  • Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast
  • The Happy Ride With Baymax
  • Splash Mountain

Priority Pass is a free digital queue. You can book your first when you enter the park, then another after 120 minutes or your first return time has passed, whichever is earlier. Eligible attractions are:

  • Pooh's Hunny Hunt
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Monsters Inc Ride and Go Seek
  • Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
  • Big Thunder Mountain

Standby Pass is another free digital queue, which is available for select restaurants and shops in the park.

Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast is the longest mid-day queue in the park, so make that a priority, either for a paid Premier Access or to be the first attraction you visit at park open, before the queue grows too long. The Happy Ride With Baymax is similar to Alien Swirling Saucers and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, but its low capacity makes it another long wait if you do not arrive early.

When to Visit

February, June and July typically have the lowest crowd levels. Try to visit on Tuesday through Thursday, as well, as the other days of the week see larger crowds. October through December are the busiest times of the year, followed by March.
