Captain EO return confirmed

December 18, 2009, 12:34 PM · Disneyland just sent out the word: Captain EO is returning to Tomorrowland's Magic Eye Theater in February 2010.

(Several of us at the Mr. Lincoln premiere yesterday suspected that we'd get this news then, but company reps told us that there would be no further announcements yesterday.)

December 18, 2009 at 3:24 PM · Hopefully it returns to Epcot's Journey Into Imagination Pavilion soon as well.
December 18, 2009 at 4:20 PM · Yay!!! Goodbye Honey, I Shrunk The Audience!!!
December 18, 2009 at 11:17 PM · Wow! Just in time for my trip!

I am going to Disneyland this year instead of WDW!

December 19, 2009 at 9:27 PM · Glad to hear that Captain EO is back. Michael was still young and looked "normal" in it. I remember the show very well from my childhood. I even had the action figures. I hope they shelve Honey.. forever, that show is so dated.
December 20, 2009 at 9:54 AM · So, now that Michael has passed on we can forget that he was accused of child molestation on multiple occasions?

Bad move, Disney execs. Listening to his music is one thing. Giving him a feature spot in a family-oriented theme park is on an entirely different level.

Stop being cheap, Disney. If you want to replace an old attraction, develop something new with one of the more recent Disney products. Leave Michael and his "Jesus Juice" out of the parks.

December 20, 2009 at 8:52 PM · What a joke. The greatest complaint about "Honey..." was its age, and they're replacing it with an even older movie? Makes sense.
December 22, 2009 at 1:41 AM · Hmmm. Some people don't seem to realize what a popular decision this is. And some of those some might remember that in this country you're innocent till proven guilty.
December 22, 2009 at 9:20 AM · Well, Mark, if this were a court of law, I would agree with you, but it is not. So, please don't offer up that nonsense about innocent until proven guilty. It just doesn't wash in the court of public opinion. Middle-aged men don't have sleepovers with little boys.

I'm also all for forgiveness if someone makes a mistake and learns their lesson from it. Michael did not. From all accounts he continued to exhibit improper behavior towards adolescent boys even after the first civil lawsuit and sealed settlement. If he were just the guy down the street instead of the "King of Pop" he probably would be Killer's main squeeze in Cellblock C at San Quentin prison.

I'm disgusted with Disney management for making such a near-sighted decision. They might as well rename the show Captain EO sponsored by NAMBLA.
