The Enchanted Tiki Room is coming to Disney World's Magic Kingdom
Disney has announced via its blog that the "Under New Management" version of the Tiki Room is going away, for good.
Walt Disney World's original version of the Tiki Room show was called Tropical Serinade, but the new version will be called the Enchanted Tiki Room, just as it has been at the Disneyland original.

I guess, if you really do mess with Polynesia, the gods will sleeze ya! Farewell Iago and Zazu. The new (old?) Tiki Room will open in late summer.

Thank God for that! I actually did a blog post about this as soon as Disney announced the return of the original Tiki Room! Good riddance, Iago and Zazu! :D
Excellent news. The older version is way better than the soon-to-be-history, "Under new Management" version. Looking forward to the change.
Personally, I found the Iago/Zazu interaction extremely annoying and I am very much looking forward to it returning to the original show. Yay Disney!
Outstanding news! Any truth to the rumor they are adding hippos?
The gods are surely pleased.
Great news! We saw the "Under New Management" show on our first WDW visit, and did not return on our second trip.
Here is an interesting thought:
I found this via facebook and went and posted it to TPI. Within the five minutes, it got over a thousand comments. I went through a couple hundred and saw NO pro "Under new management" posts.
I wonder if Disney did it because they were under pressure to severe their ties with Gibert Gottfried. The same way AFLAC cut their ties with him over his Tsunami comments.
You've got a good point there, Ray. That might be the reason, although either the Iago or Zazu (more like Zero) animatronics were damaged by that small fire.
I am thinking that it had more to do with the fire.
If you are concerned that Disney's waffling on bringing back exactly "the old version," keep in mind that the show now running in Disneyland does not include the Offenbach number, which was cut many years ago. So even that version isn't technically "the original one."
Thanks Anthony : that's very welcome news. I think most of us believe that the old ( -er ) version of the Tiki Rooms was way better than the "New Management" incarnation.
But there is just one other thought. What tweak, amendment or addition, apart from TH's hippos of course, might make it even better than it already is ?
I'm actually happy to see the Disneyland version as it stands but , as Robert Niles reminded us, even that version is not the true "original".
Are there any parts that could be cut from the show or shortened ? Any new parts that could be added ........or returned ?
Be careful what you wish for. We might end up with Marvel Super Hero Parrots or Stitch's Tiki Rooms !!!
The old show was a good place to sit, rest, and be air conditioned and wasn't very popular. The new show was the same but more annoying and even less popular. I'd rather the attraction be changed to something else...
Gilbert Gottfried loses another gig...
Everyone wins with the new (old) Tiki Room! Woo Hoo!
Rob,
I think some of the ethnic humor of the four hosts doesn't stand up well, and could be trimmed. Beyond that, I think it's simply a matter of upgrading the tech. The fountain would be the first place I'd start, then the "windows."
The one thing I hope they do keep from Under New Management is the tiki Godess that rises up in the center of the room. That is a pretty cool an animatronic.
Maybe its me, but I didn't catch the ethnic jokes in the Tiki Room. Maybe its just me or maybe they were trimmed down...
Fantastic news!! "The Under New Managment" was just plan bad. ANd was very choppie. ANd Iam glade that it will return in some form.
Hooray!!! Now, if they'd just bring back the old Carousel of Progress song/music...
Poor Gilbert Gottfried... Two voice acting cuts in one month.

Will Phil Hartman still be a voice of one of the birds outside ?
