Animagique Closes at Walt Disney Studios Paris

February 1, 2016, 11:04 AM · The Walt Disney Studios theme park at Disneyland Paris yesterday performed Animagique for the final time. A 20-minute staged musical tribute to Disney animation, Animagique had been running since the park opened in 2002.

American Disney fans who never had the chance to see the show can imagine in as a cross between Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Mickey's Philharmagic. Presented in black light (like the Little Mermaid show at Disney's Hollywood Studios) and driven by Donald doing something Mickey told him not to do (the same device behind Philharmagic), Animagique delivers an excuse to reprise numbers from many Disney classics, from Dumbo to The Lion King.

Here's a fan video of the show, from a couple years ago:

Animagique will be replaced by a new production, Mickey and the Magician, which will open on July 2 this year.

This park is in big trouble. Just returned, and the sheer volume ofride closures was dissapointing, closed not for renovations but budget cut backs.

Whoever the bright spark was that decided this summer they would close Star Tours down for the whole season needs replacing.

It goes back to the decision to place this park in freaking PARIS!
How about near Monaco or anywhere else along the Mediterranean, where they can make use of the water (hotels with spectacular views, at the very least) and the much better year-round warm weather.

Oh well.
