Universal Studios Hollywood announces Harry Potter light show
It's an announcement we've been waiting for ever since the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened at Universal Studios Hollywood. Universal's original theme park revealed today that it will debut a nightly Hogwarts Castle light show on June 23.
When Universal officially opened the Wizarding World Hollywood in April 2016, it wowed visitors with a projection mapping show on Hogwarts Castle during its media event. The projections literally animated the castle, pouring light from its windows and illuminating its surface with the colors and symbols of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry's four houses.
Over the past few weeks, fans have been noticing multiple projectors and lighting elements appearing on rooftops and buildings in and around the land, fueling speculation that the "one night only" projection light show would return in some form. Now, we know officially that it will. The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle will play with a musical score arranged from John Williams' themes from the Harry Potter films. Universal also is promising soft opens and AP previews leading up to the official June 23 debut.
The Universal Orlando Resort previously announced its own Hogwarts Castle light show, but that one will be themed to and run during the Christmas season.

Here's hoping this comes to Orlando after (possibly even before) the Christmas version. Can't see any reason why not.
Bring us your ice cream shop, Florean, and you can have our light show!
Yeah, why is this only at USH?
Sounds like a disappointing attraction to me. Is this all Universal have to counter Pandora and Star Wars Land? Awful.
Wait, I thought Pandora was the answer to Potter? (And there's this little thing called Nintendo coming up at Universal, too.)
Seriously, the Disney/Universal fan trolling on this stuff is just silly. Enjoy each company's attractions on their own terms. It's no knock on your self-worth if a competitor to your favorite theme park comes out with something cool, too... or, at least, it shouldn't be.
Exactly - the only two companies you MUST draw a line between and choose a side on is The Coca-Cola Company and Brand X (pepsi). When it comes to theme parks, why not have fun at all?
As each raises the bar, the other responds in kind. The only winner in all of this is us.
Don't hate...Celebrate!
Anonymous posters also blast Disney at various times on this site. Who knows if they're on the payroll?
