Who wants to gear up to break out with the Guardians of the Galaxy?

August 31, 2018, 11:35 AM · Let's keep our giveaway week going with another prize pack. This time, it's a Guardians of the Galaxy collection from Disney California Adventure.

This week on Theme Park Insider we are giving away collections of swag from media events. We started Wednesday with a Pixar pack from Disneyland and continued yesterday on the Discussion Forum with a grab-bag of stuff from Cedar Fair, including a piece of the old track from the former Mean Streak roller coaster.

Today, our line-up includes a Rocket Raccoon plush, a dancing Baby Groot (flip the switch on the bottom, then hit the button on the top, and Groot dances to music from the Mission Breakout ride), a Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout comic, hat, and speaker, plus an "Awesome Mix Tape" cassette that's actually a USB drive. It all comes in a nice Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout backpack.

Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout swag

I described the rules in our previous giveaway post, but here the short version again: You must be 18 years or older, with a US mailing address, and a registered member of Theme Park Insider who has subscribed to our email newsletter using the same address you used to register for the site. Then just log in and respond to this post to enter.

One entry per person, but I will award a bonus entry to the best response (in my sole opinion) — let's make the discussion about Mission Breakout and what you'd like to see join it in DCA's upcoming Marvel land. Anyone who has written for the front page in the past 12 months is not eligible, but writers are welcomed to join in the comments discussion! Contest closes in one week, when the comments close on this post. I then will pick a winner at random from the eligible entrants and contact the prospective winner via email.

We are doing this because I want to say "thank you" again to all of you for being part of the Theme Park Insider community. It's a honor to cover this industry for you and I truly appreciate how you've come together to provide some of the best reader comment sections anywhere online. So please keep reading as we have a few more giveaways (and a lot more theme park news) to come!

Update: Congratulations to our winner, evilpixiequeen!

Mission Breakout is such a good ride, the tone matches with the film perfectly and really fits with the other 2 films! The music choices are amazing and fit the ride profiles :)

P.S- I am Groot!?

The marvel land is probably going to have a Repeat of Spiderman live!

I’ll set aside the rumors. I would love an Avengers tie-in with Mission Breakout. Include some action scenes from Infinity Wars like when Guardians returned to Tivans and tried to retrieve the Infinity stone only to realize Thanos was already there. Show Gamora confront Thanos and the elevators creak as the Tower threatens to collapse. Then the second attraction could be part 2. Jet off to aid the Avengers as they battle Thanos on Earth. Of course, this storyline will already be several years old after Infinity Wars part 2 comes out in mid 2019.

I just moved to the west coast and can't wait to make it down to Disneyland to go on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride!! This swag would be perfect for my first time!

August 31, 2018 at 12:03 PM

Haven't been to Mission Breakout, but want the swag??

August 31, 2018 at 12:03 PM

A Guardians of the Galaxy swag bag?! To quote everyone's favorite Trash Panda (weapon cocked): "Oh yeaaaaaaaahhhhh!"

August 31, 2018 at 12:06 PM

Just got back from WDW and I'm trying to get out DL within the next year or so. I haven't been there since 1979 so I think there have been some changes in that time.

August 31, 2018 at 12:06 PM

I haven't been to Disneyland, but we go to disneyworld as much as we can. I cant wait to see what they come up with when guardian of the galaxy rollercoaster comes to EPCOT. Gonna be very interesting. Thank you for all theme park insider writes and reports about love it. Thanks for opportunity to win. You guys ROCK!!!!!

I'm in.

For "Marvel Land" the foliage from bugs land can be re-purposed into a mini Wakada before you walk through to a Avengers HQ campus tucked in behind Guardians. This could have a dark ride simulator style ride that can be an update of Ironman ride in Honk Kong (maybe include Capt. America) And the main ride can be the spider-man swinging sensation ride (almost how harry potter is at universal). As long as whatever they do is actually built and done in my life time I'll be happy.

I don't often post, but I read the posts and comments nearly everyday! Love TPI!

I would love to see something Dr. Strange related. Trippy projections, going back and forth in time, dark ride on steroids!

August 31, 2018 at 12:30 PM

I'd like to see a Doctor Strange Sanctum Sanctorum dark ride. With Tower of Terror gone, DCA could use some spooky. A trackless haunted house that has the possibility of featuring portals taking you through various planes of existence would be great.

Another ride that I think would be a sentimental sop to to fans of old school Disneyland would be Ant-Man's Voyage Through Innerspace. Update the classic with Ant-Man as the guide and bring back "Miracles from Molecules".

So want to win this. Chance to be the cool Mom with all the swag!

August 31, 2018 at 2:04 PM

I was really surprised how much I enjoyed the change to the GotG makeover. I thought Tower of Terror was a great ride by itself.

Count me in!

This contest feels a bit like the extra credit section on an exam. I feel like I need to say something in response even though I've got nothing lol

When I originally heard about the transformation of HTH in Guardians I was horrified. How could they do that?! So, clearly I was going to be extra critical of the new Guardians ride, but all this time later I have to admit how much I actually love this ride. It’s my opinion it’s more than a simple retheme but rather a new experience. HTH built on suspense and the tease of the big drop. Guardians just throws you right into the action. In my opinion, it makes for a completely different ride and I’ll admit... I love it.

Alternative contest rules: “Dance-off, bro!”

Guardians of the Galaxy! I am in :)

I’m a fan of Mission Breakout! While it the same “ride” & I enjoyed ToT, I find Breakout more fun. The music & slight variations (along with the after dark overlay) give it a variety ToT didn’t have.

While I expect DCA to add the requisite Avengers attraction (it is technically, the easiest way to get as many characters represented as possible), it would be cool too see some unexpected choices.

An Ant Man attraction, or for a high concept show (Dr. Strange illusion based show or something)

Hey now

September 1, 2018 at 9:21 AM

I think that DCA is doing a pretty good job with the upcoming Marvel land. It, I believe, is supposed to include an Avengers ride (sorry if I'm wrong). It will probably be the most inclusive marvel ride ever made. I heard that they're making a Spider-Man ride on top of this. I really hope they don't do this. It would bring competition between the Universal version and this one. Instead, Disney should stick with something that's still popular, but hasn't been made by a competing park before. I mean seriously, If Disney somehow got their hands on Harry Potter rights, would they seriously try and steal Universal's thunder? I doubt it. An Iron Man ride would do way more justice than any Spider-Man ride that has already been done before. However, in Disney's defense, the playing field is somewhat low. Universal has most of the more popular Marvel characters in their theme parks already. So, I can understand why they wouldn't care if they are making a copy-cat ride that was pretty successful in the first place.

Since no one has used this yet:

(softly) I am Groot??

I love Mission Breakout! It's the ride retheme that works unlike the Incredicoaster

September 1, 2018 at 3:22 PM

I'm not throwing my hat in the ring, but since Marvel is replacing Bug's Land I agree with another post that there should be an Ant Man ride of some kind.

September 1, 2018 at 9:43 PM

yes ant man with an inner space tribute would be awesome. thank for the chance to win

September 2, 2018 at 6:32 PM

Woohoo!

So I’ve yet to visit the Westcoast parks but hopefully will in the next five to ten years. I’d assume a solid Marvel land will be developed by then and I’d love to see a ride based off of the original MCU Avengers (Ironman, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye). Of course Black Panther is the hot property now. With the insane box office it made it’s an easy choice but the original MCU cast paved the way and made it possible. I don’t think Black Panther would have been the same back in 2008 when the MCU started. I think the O.G.’s deserve a stand alone, ground breaking, E-ticket dark ride! Then if there could be another solid ride based on supporting or maybe unusual Avengers like Black Panther, Antman, or Dr. Strange along with the GotG Mission Breakout, that would be a good mix for their Marvel Land!

I was not a fan of the reskin of ToT and still wish Disney would have changed it to the HighTower story theme, but Robert you called it all the way and never had a doubt it would be a hit. Well done good man. You totally killed it and were like “Finger to the throat means death... Metaphor”.

P.S. TH according to the Pirate Angel he’s sweet rabbit! Lol

September 3, 2018 at 1:39 PM

Woohoo! I am Groot!

September 3, 2018 at 2:05 PM

Yes please!

September 3, 2018 at 4:34 PM

Mission:Breakout is the BEST attraction at DCA right now, and I’m really hoping Wakanda is built as an immersive area as headquarters for Marvel land!

September 3, 2018 at 8:41 PM

As a lifelong comic-book reader (Nearly five decades now...), if anyone had told childhood me that Rocket Racoon would be in a couple of billion-dollar movie franchises, AND be featured in a Disney ride, I would have thought that they were nuts......what a time to be alive.

That said, an Avengers ride, with Thanos, my all-time favorite villain, would be enough to ensure that I would book my first trip to the west coast ASAP.

September 3, 2018 at 9:35 PM

I am really looking forward to the guardians ride at epcot. I hope it gets done relatively soon. I hope to get to disney in a 2-3 years and hopefully its done by then

September 3, 2018 at 11:00 PM

Really looking forward to either the GotG ride in DL or WDW, depending upon which I can get to first. :-)

September 4, 2018 at 4:07 AM

I'm in would love to go see this

September 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM

Robert thanks for the goodies. It is nice to see someone giving back to the community.

September 4, 2018 at 11:16 AM

An Avengers attraction could be fun.

September 4, 2018 at 12:33 PM

I love it all!

September 4, 2018 at 4:41 PM

I can't wait to see the plans for Epcot's GOTG coaster, but considering Dave Bautista's continued outspokenness about not wanting to work for Disney anymore, I do wonder how that will affect the rides narrative. I'm sure he'll be less than enthusiastic to provide any physical performance and/or voice over work, but it would be a real shame to see him replaced or dropped entirely. I know a lot of people are saying things like "it doesn't matter. He can't act. He's just a wrestler", but I think Bautista made Drax his own, and isn't as easily replaced as some might think.

September 4, 2018 at 6:28 PM

Yes....PLEASE!!!

September 4, 2018 at 7:59 PM

I wasn't sure what to expect at Mission: Breakout but it was a lot of fun! I'm a huge Tower of Terror fan, but this was not a bad replacement. There's still the Tower of Terror in Florida!

September 5, 2018 at 12:06 AM

Pick me!

September 5, 2018 at 11:19 AM

Love all of these! Can't wait for the ride to open in Florida! 8)

September 5, 2018 at 2:06 PM

Love this 'prize pack'!! I don't make it to CA very often, so would be extra fun to win this one!!

September 6, 2018 at 9:29 AM

Sigh, I still miss tower of terror.
