Walt Disney World 'double dips' at this year's Christmas party

October 26, 2018, 4:40 PM · Free cookies and hot cocoa not enough to sustain you through Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom? Disney is opening Tony's Town Square Restaurant during this year's hard-ticket party, but it's not for its normal dinners.

Nope, it's yet another dessert party, this one called Tony's Most Merriest Town Square Party. It's $99 per person, on top of the $95-125 cost of attending Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. The party within a party kicks off at 9:30pm and includes a selection of savory hors d'oeuvres in addition to holiday-themed sweets.

The menu includes meatballs, mini pizzas, cheese-stuffed artichokes, and artisanal meats and cheeses, as well as Yule Logs, Christmas cookies, and Mickey-ear/Santa-cap red velvet cupcakes. Participants can come and go as they please for the buffet between 9:30 and 12:20am, and the ticket includes a reserved viewing area for the 11pm showing of the Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverage are included, too.

This isn't the first time that Disney has "double dipped" on upcharges by offering an event during a hard-ticket party. Disneyland did it several years ago with a $150 "Mystical Spirits of the Blue Bayou" dinner during Mickey's Halloween Party, which included reserved fireworks seating.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party starts November 8 and runs 26 select evenings through December 21 at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Tickets for the Tony's Most Merriest Town Square Party are available via +1-407-827-7348 starting October 30, though annual passholders and DVC members can book starting October 29.

Nah that's not for me. Now if they had a upcharge VIP section inside an upcharge desert party inside an upcharge night event, that's a different story. I say smaller and more expensive until we have Elon Musk standing by himself on top of the castle during the fireworks.

You better drink a lot of beer, wine, and eat sweets until you throw up to get any sort of value out of this... but of course I’m sure this will sell out and people will be more than happy to pay the extra price tag. The next up charge event should be to have the the Disney villains steal your wallet or purse at the gate to make sure they take every last dime you have... but don’t worry you get a cupcake and a one of a kind character interaction out of the deal! This is just getting to be too much!

People who love Disney are like Casino addicts; they hate their money.

Didn't they do an up charge event at MNSSHP a few years ago? I believe it was in the castle and had lady Tremainesinging ballads or something.

Rather than continually complain about capitalism, isn’t it better to vote by not opening your wallet or taking out your credit card?

CAPITALISM= choice

What if you could eat the cupcake in a special $650 up-charge cabana (tent)?
Well it shows what Disney is prepared to do to squeeze a whale; not much.
