Disney World finally gives us an adults-only section of a park

December 21, 2018, 11:36 AM · Been wishing that you could visit Disney World without the kids? I mean, not just without your kids — without any kids at all.

No, Disney hasn't obtained the rights to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and deployed a Child Catcher character to clear a new Vulgaria land of all the little kids. But it has declared one part of one of its parks as child-free for a week.

From December 26 through 31, visitors ages 18 and older are invited to enjoy the "Adult Cove" at the Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park. The pop-up get-away will feature food and drink service at Hammerhead Fred's Bar, which will offer live music as well as TVs for watching the week's slate of Disney-owned or broadcast bowl games.

Typhoon Lagoon is scheduled to be open from 10am to 5pm daily during for those six days, though the park may close for cold or inclement weather. Typically, a water park isn't exactly a major attraction during Christmas week, but perhaps Disney is betting that the prospect of getting away from the kids, ordering a drink and listening to a band while watching football might lure a few adults out of slam-jammed queues elsewhere around the resort during its busiest week of the year.

Only a masochist goes to Disney at that time of year, but there seem to be a lot of masochists out there...

Going to hit 80 degrees that week, so might be something to it. Wish it could have been Epcot or Hollywood Studios, but that's just a pipe dream
