Lego releases its version of Mickey Mouse's Steamboat Willie

March 18, 2019, 9:19 AM · In honor of Mickey Mouse's 90th birthday year, Lego is releasing a new set that depicts Mickey's original role — Steamboat Willie.

The 751-piece set will be available on April 1 and lists for $89.99 in the U.S. It includes two new Mickey and Minnie Mouse minifigs, in the 1928 cartoon's original black and white, of course.

I'm doubting that this means we see Mick and Min in The Lego Movie 3, but you soon can have everything you need to film your own bootleg vision of that at home!

There's only one person who loves this more than me and that's...... Mrs Plum.

I still have on my camera roll several hundred photos from when Brian created a stop-motion Batman movie using one of his Lego sets. I guarantee that some geek will do a shot-for-shot recreation of Steamboat Willie using this set... and that I will do everything in my Googling power to find and watch it.

I've always thought one of the Disney parks should have an attraction based on Steamboat Willie. A boat ride in black & white! But we're just now getting the first attraction featuring Mickey in the the form of the train ride, so I know they'll never be a steamboat attraction.....it just seems like, if done correctly, it would be a cool way to pay homage to the Mickey of yesteryear in an actual attraction.

That being said, this Lego set is pretty cool.

I joke with my parents on how it's great for them they didn't have Lego Disney sets when I was a kid or I'd have made them spend a fortune on a bunch for me.
