'Us' star moonlights as Horror Nights scareactor

October 30, 2019, 3:30 PM · Perhaps the most amazing moment in theme parks is when the star of a popular franchise decides to reprise their role in that franchise's theme park attraction. It's rare, but it does happen... and it happened again this weekend at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Lupita Nyong'o, the Academy Award-winning star of Jordan Peele's Us visited that movie's maze at this year's Halloween Horror Nights on Saturday. Then, after being on the receiving end of the jump scares, she decided to take a few moments to give as well as she got. So she put on the red jumpsuit and reprised her role as Adelaide Wilson's doppelgänger Red to pull a shift as a scareactor in the maze. Here's a video recap, courtesy the park.

I wonder how many guests saw her and thought, "Wow, they did a great job of casting there — she really looks like Lupita Nyong'o!"

If you want one last scare for the year, Universal Studios Hollywood has added an extra night of Halloween Horror Nights tonight. The event runs nightly from tonight through Sunday, which will be the final night of this year's run.

We have discounted Horror Nights tickets available right now on our Universal Studios Hollywood tickets page.

This is awesome, but I must say, Universal did such a great job casting the actors playing Red that I thought they looked just like Lupita. I wouldn’t have known if it was actually her or another scare actor!
