Six Flags' West Coast Racers is finally ready to race

December 11, 2019, 1:46 PM · We're about to get an answer to one of the more frustrating questions of 2019 - when will West Coast Racers open?

Six Flags Magic Mountain held a kickoff event for the dueling street racing coaster way back in August 2018. But production and construction delays caused Magic Mountain to miss the 2019 summer season. Many fans even wondered if the coaster would debut in 2019 at all. But now it appears that West Coast Racers will make it to that finish line, if barely.

The park announced in an email to annual passholders today that West Coast Racers will open for Six Flags' Gold Plus, Platinum, Diamond, and Diamond Elite Members on December 21 and 22 from 10:30am through 9pm. The coaster will open to all Season Pass holders and Members starting the next day. That preview will run from 10:30am-7pm daily through December 31, then from 1o:30am-6pm on January 1-5.

Members and pass holders do not need to sign up in advance to ride. Just present your valid pass card at the ride entrance.

Six Flags is reminding everyone that this is a preview, and West Coast Racers might not be available during all scheduled preview times. No official word yet on a public opening for the coaster, either, but if all goes well, expect all Six Flags Magic Mountain ticket holders to be able to ride at some point soon after January 5, 2020.

Leave it to Six Flags to show Disney and Universal how to properly load test a ride before officially opening it to the masses.

Such a good fit for the tone of the park.

UO just had to do this for Fast & Furious.

Hagrids and Resistance will always have breakdowns. Haunted Mansion broke down today. That's what rides do.
