Disneyland cast members get first look at Rise of the Resistance

January 9, 2020, 10:08 PM · Disneyland cast members are getting their chance to ride the park's new Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in advance of its opening to the public next week.

Here's a look, courtesy the park:

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance officially opens to the public at Disneyland on January 17, following its acclaimed debut at Walt Disney World's Disney's Hollywood Studios last month. If you're looking for the complete experience, here are the full queue and on ride POV videos we recorded at Disney World on its media preview day:

Rise of the Resistance this month won our Theme Park Insider Awards for both Best New Attraction and Best Attraction overall, while Disneyland won an honorable mention for Best Theme Park, coming in at the second spot on our Top 10 list. Who knows? Perhaps the addition of the world's top theme park ride might very well push Disneyland up to the top spot next year.

The January 17 opening should be a big day at the park, as it coincides with the biggest event of the year at the Anaheim Convention Center across the street from the resort with the annual NAMM Show. That should make parking a challenge if you're not planning to arrive at the park in advance of its 8am opening that morning.

And given the experience at Disney World, where enthusiastic fans are filling the virtual queue for the ride for the day within an hour or so of the park's opening each morning, an early arrival is going to be essential to get on the ride at Disneyland, too, anyway.

This will be interesting as so much written on differences in California vs Florida parkgoers so intriguing how this will work. Still, folks go wild on this ride anywhere so it should be great to boost the park up and end the "GE is a disaster" line.
