Forget about Mickey's Big Yellow Shoes - Check Out These Duffy Chucks
Tokyo Disney Resort is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Duffy the Disney Bear — the Disney Parks character that American theme park fans love to mock, but that Japanese theme park fans just love.
The resort has been offering an expanded line of Duffy merchandise during the year-long celebration, which also honors Duffy's girlfriend, Shellie May, and feline friend Gelatoni. But the new item that caught my eye was this:
That's right: Duffy Chucks.
It's a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars, with Duffy fur on the canvas upper. The "Journey with Duffy" celebration logo appears on the tongue and the inside is lined with navy with white stripes. The shoes run from women's size 6 through 10-1/2 and men's sizes 4-1/2 through 9, and sell for 15,800 yen — about $129 at current exchange rates. You probably wouldn't want to wear these outside (and especially not in the rain!), but they'd be perfect for a trip on the Duffy bus, wouldn't they?

Not sure why'd they have the fur on the boots match Duffy's fur. Some kids might take that the bad way when they ask where it came from. ;-)
I'd like to imagine them skinning Duffy bears to harvest the fur for these shoes. (Evil laughter)
Oh, darn, I wear a size 10. They wouldn't fit. I am so sad...(sorry, just can't get the sarcasm to register loud enough in print).

I kinda like Duffy and his little story. I think it's cute and charming. But I must admit, I'm not crazy enough about him to wear him on my feet. But, hey, I'm willing to do some crazy stuff for my fandoms that regular people would consider abnormal, so I've no room to to judge.
