Hong Kong Disneyland Celebrates 15 Years

September 12, 2020, 3:38 PM · Disney's Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is celebrating its 15th birthday today, even while the park remains closed due to the pandemic.

The resort posed a video of Mickey and his friends celebrating the anniversary on Main Street, which provides us another view of the park's recently expanded castle.

Hong Kong authorities recently relaxed pandemic restrictions in the district, bringing theme parks a step closer to returning again. But the resort has not announced a reopening date. Hong Kong Disneyland closed initially on January 26 before reopening on June 18, then closing again on July 15. It and the Disneyland Resort theme parks in California remain the only Disney theme parks still closed due to the pandemic.

The new castle looks fantastic until your eye picks out Sleeping Beauty Castle and then it just looks all wrong. I kinda wish they'd demolished the original castle and started from scratch rather than building on to what was there. I guess locals who aren't exposed to images of Disneyland will eventually get used to and see past it, but for the rest of us there is no unseeing!

I got to experience the park last year and had a great time. Big Grizzly mountain, Mystic Manor, Iron Man are three top notch exclusives at the park. Theres other excusives too among other Disney staples. The new additions coming will be exciting to see!

Liked the Imagineering series on Disney admitting Hong Kong was rough at first but after pushing it more with Mystic Manor and such, proud of how it turned out.
