Disney pushing new movie based on 'Jungle Cruise'2006-09-21By Robert Niles: The Hollywood Reporter notes that Disney's stepping up its effort to get a Jungle Cruise movie into theaters. Disney, of course, created one of the most profitable franchises in movie history with its Pirates of the Caribbean films. But it bombed with flicks based on Haunted Mansion and Country Bear Jamboree. For Jungle Cruise, the HR reports that Disney's enlisted the executive producers of the TV show "Smallville" to write the script. (For PotC, Disney brought aboard the writers of "Shrek.") So it's a movie based on a ride based on an entirely different movie? Yeah, that can work. I just hope it's as good as "Tower of Terror" starring Steve Guttenberg... Now when are they going to make a movie based on that "Star Tours" ride? That'd be awesome. From Erik Yates on September 21, 2006 at 6:31 PM
This has actually been in the works for about a year, and put on hold to see if POTC2 had the same ooomph the first one did....I'd say it did. They have some of the same writers, but the way the story is going, from whats been told, its not sounding like the African Queen, but it will follow some doctors into the jungles to find a medical cure by finding a few rare flowers....if it sounds familiar, it was interuppted by giant Ice Cube eating snakes in Anaconda. Lets hope they know what they're doing....and this turns out to be a POTC....for every POTC, there are five Country Bear Jamborees, and two Haunted Mansions. Oh no! Not again!!!
Though I was wrong about POTC.
Isn't the Jungle Cruise based on the African Queen?
Maybe it will be as good as Pirates
